How do you TURN OFF Manual Mode on Shortbaord Mk II?

I have a Pod XT Pro with a FBV Shortboard Mk II and sometimes when I switch channels it goes into manual mode if I hit the button wrong.

This is a big problem because when it does this my amp volume jumps up really high and just irritates the rest of the band and me as well.

I'm not sure how exactly it does this, it just reads "MANUAL" on the pedalboard and everything goes haywire. I just want the buttons to do

the basic operations, up/down on the banks - turn on/off my Stomp, Modulation, Delay, Reverb - Work Channels A thu D - and the Volume/Wah pedal.

The tap button I don't even need to work really because I set all that up in my channels.

I would be nice if there were an explanation of what all the values mean and exactly what they do in the FBV Control Software, like MMC, and MIDI CC.

Some are strait forward, but others are a little confusing.

I also have the same problem if I accedently hit the Function 1 or 2 buttons. So I would like to disable those as well.

Line 6 FBV Shortboard Mk II Buttons keep falling off

I bought the FBV Shortboard about a month ago and after a week or so one of the footswitch buttons fell off when I took it out of the bag.

I thought it had the old style push switches like the old stomp boxes do because they look that way on the outside, but in fact they are

only made to look like they are sturdy. Actually they are held on by "C" clips and a spring with another sring inside that pushes a small

piece of plastic against a switch like the kind you have in your mouse. Pretty cheap, but then again it is made in China and it saves money

by not using a real switch that would last a lifetime. I was able to put it back on and it lasted for another week before it fell off again.

Now it's the third time of dealing with it and I'm getting rather tired of it. Yeah I could send it in to have it repaired by an authorized Line 6

shop, but then I have to spend more money for shipping, and miss gigs and practices, only to have the guy at the repair shop do the same

thing I'm doing and put the clip back on. Incedently, it is no easy task either because all the other contacts tend to fall out when you take it apart

and then you get to hassle finding them and putting them back in place.

My point is that it is a very poor design and for the money we pay for these things I think they should redesign it. A simple pin, retaining nut

with a lock washer, anything that will keep it from falling apart would be an improvement and I don't feel it's too much to expect better craftsmanship

because nothing should fall apart simply from removing it from it's case. That's just unacceptable.

I doubt you will see another like it in your lifetime. It's a Jackson RR1LH (Left Handed) Blue Ghost Flames. Very hard to find in a lefty version.

They didn't have a Jackson case for it because the place that made cases for Jackson in Mexico was destroyed by a hurricane so they sent it to me in a Dean

case. I get upset everytime I realize I'll never be able to get a real case for it, but after I play it a little and it sings to me I feel a little better.

This sucks since it makes it not possible to use it along with a distortion as far as I can tell.

Is there a way to use both at the same time that I'm not seeing here?

I keep running into this kind of problem with not being able to use different combinations of effects because of the way they have them grouped. I think they should have done it with a catagory just for distortion effects like they did for delay and reverb.

Well to do it on the cheap just turn down the power amp, switch guitars, turn the power amp back up.

Don't worry about any damage to the POD HD500 because the signal going into it has not been amplified yet.

It only sounds bad and might be a problem when it reaches your power amp and can damage your speakers

if it gets that far. The only way you might damage the POD HD500 is if you are running something like a micro amp

before it, which would be a bad idea anyways.

There are some guitar cables you can buy that have a cutoff switch built into one end made just for this purpose.

I know you did not want to buy anything, but it's something to consider the next time you need to buy cables.

Here is an example of one:

http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/PWCBGtr20A/

If cleaning it didn't work you may need to have it tested by a professional electronics repair man to find out if something was damaged when this happened. Whenever you spill liquid on electronics CUT POWER IMMEDIATLY and clean and dry thoughly (this means taking it all apart and cleaning and drying the inside too) before you put any power back though it again. Soda will eat circuitry with all the acid in it and leave a sugar residue. Beer or coffee isn't much better and will also leave a sugar residue all over the circuit board and electrical contact points of switches.

In fact you shouldn't have drinks anywhere near your gear because you are just asking for trouble. That may have been a $400 lesson learned the hard way.
