I had looked into this device and found the following out. You need to get a wire to convert from 1/4" to RCA plugs and then you can plug your guitar into the device and the the device into the amp. The PROBLEM with that setup is that I was told the the best location of the device is in the effects loop, which no Spider IV has. So can you do it yes, but it seems the difference would not be worth the price since all I ever saw in forums or was told is it is optimal in the effects loop of an amp. Maybe it sounds good plugged in before the amp, I do not know that. When I saw it being recommended in a effects loop I stopped looking. I would be curious if someone has found out otherwise from personal experience or technically speaking.

What "kind" of audio taper pent would be a replacement.

I would like to make that mod, done by a pro of course, but do not know what would be a match, 250k 500k, long shaft short shaft etc.

I have not been able to find that info anywhere.

I had that also. I live in an old house and I am assuming the old wiring and hookups was causing it. I purchased the Monster Pro 1000 power strip and bought one of their power cord 200. It worked for me, it was an expensive guess but it luckily worked.

I know you said it was not the guitar but food for thought anyways, you could try lining the chamber where your guitar electronics are with copper, I have heard that works too.

You should check out the "CustomTone.com" page. Its in the drop down menu under "Community". You can search by artist, song etc.

When I turn on the SV IV I get a loud pop coming thru the speakers as it turns on or off? is this typical? should I worry about the speakers? This is my first SS, I have never had this happen with tubes? Is it a Solid State characteristic? Master volume is turned down at time of turning on or off and guitar is not plugged in.

Spider Valve MKII 112 For Sale

If this type of discussion is not allowed here I apologize ahead of time.

My Spider Valve MKII 112 is WAY to loud for my situation and never expected it to be such, live and learn. I am downsizing to a smaller Spider IV, once I sell this, and was going to put this on Ebay, but I thought there may be someone in the forum interested in it, what better place to ask to find a new home for my toy. I bought it in the beginning of July from Guitar Center and about a month ago had the preamp and power tubes changed to a set of JJTeslas I purchased from Eurotubes, it was professionally done and biased. I still have the original tubes and will include those plus an amp cover I had special ordered to fit the amp prior to Line6 making one. I have played it total for 15- 20 hours, about 15 on the new tubes. Never turned it up loud, maybe 10 percent on the channel and master volume, or used any type of attenuator on it. It is in mint like new condition. It is also currently upgraded to 2.0. Never left my smoke free and pet free home.

I am listening to all fair offers and i know the unit is heavy and expensive to ship and will pay half the shipping costs or if you are local to me we can arrange a pickup. It will be shipped in all its original packaging.

My understanding is that combo amps are a torture chamber for tubes and that long plates are much more susceptible to the vibration and damage because of it. I have always used short plates based on recommendations from quite a few reliable sources and tech people because of the above situation in combo amps.

It seems to me that the Valvulator would make most sense before the digital section from the way the product is described then in the loop. Did you like the sound in either one better than the other? I once had a Valvulator that i placed before my pedla borad to help the signal passing thru the pedals. It would seem the it would be best suited to push the signal thru the digital preamp then after it, IMO.
