Sorry to see this...I didnt know Nick well..and only knew him from the forum .

The times I did communicate with him I always thought he was a nice guy...a bit long winded but always helpful.

I liked him and I'm sure he'll be missed

Hmmm....Octo's really bored today

All kidding aside I think there are so many ways to realize what has been described as fizz....there is no answer.

Sometimes people hear what they want to hear.

In the case of MFX there are people who will work at certain issues they believe they are having and some who don't like to tweak and get frustrated.

I'll give you what I think of as a good example. When using the digital delay I was getting a distortion I never got on the X-3. So I kept playing with it and by lowering the bass and treble to about 30-35% bingo....no more distortion. I don't know why this was the case. Doesn't matter. Same with the high gain models. I've played around with the mid focus EQ to the point that I wanted to add some fizz at times.

I never had any problems with the HD 500. I also have to say....I did play around with it to get what I want.

More to the point of your question...I have heard clips where I couldn't figure out what people were complaining about. Sometimes I think this a case of hyper sensitivity or maybe just some people not knowing what a tube amp sounds like. My Mark III can sound much fizzier than any thing Line 6 ever made depending on how its set. Few would argue the Mk III isn't a desirable amp.

It would be helpful perhaps if Line 6 are able to spend a little time to look into this without wasting ofdisproportionate amounts of their valuable time on this and for them to have a quiet word - if necessary - in someone's ear.

And it could be very much like a Monty Python skit......Line6..right...now all you oners....did you really..really..really..really...try those tones...did you???????

Dont get me wrong..just poking fun. I know people would like props for their work...just dont see how this issue could be proved. The good news is the tones are there for us all and for some folks thats a great help. Ever notice how the stars on this website cause many issues?

I like the idea of giving more information on the uploaders setup. That would be really helpful.

Yes...best idea in the thread. I have noticed theres very little detailed info about the tones. I dont really care as I make my own tones for the most part. I try them once in awhile for the heck of it. It would be better to tell more about the equipment used. If used at home..at a gig...for recording...things like that. Much better than looking at stars. Just saying "Heavy Sound" or something isnt all that useful.

And lastly, I agree that measures should be taken against anyone that does this. Although I don't rely on the ratings, many others probably do and it's a huge disservice to our community. I'm sure guys that are uploading want to get honest feedback on their patches.

Well of course they want honest feedback..unless...dare I say...it happens to be a 1 star rating???? I cant figure out how anyone can tell that some people aren't simply being honest. I have tried some of the tones and I "never" rate them. I dont see the point of judging these things. Its way to subjective. Not to mention there is no standard to qualify ones taste to render some posters as able to rate a tone and others unable to do so. I understand its hard to believe some people may not like what you've created. Just the same it happens. Regarding some of the tones I've tried...I liked some and not others. If I was rating them..sorry..some would get a 1 and others would get more. Again sorry.... but some are IMO 1's.

Get one of these..its cheap..effectve...will sound exactly like whatever you put into it. No one will ever say it doesnt sound exactly like the song its playing....best of all...just turn it on and go have a beer. No playing nessary
