If it's a "crackling" noise the first place to look is the tubes. That's why you can't hear it on the distorted tones. I recently bought a 2x12 Marshall cab on Craigslist and noticed a buzzing that was very annoying. Finally found out the dust cap on one of the speakers was poorly "repaired" and was a little off causing the buzz. Just another thing to look for...

I am only using the "PRE" models with a 2x12 sealed cab loaded with 8ohm V30's and it sounds really, really good once you get it setup correctly! I am running it in "STACK FRONT" mode with the bass FLAT, the treble at -40 and the focus on 150. I get some really awesome djent sounds, all of the heavy metal amp sounds are great. I am running version 2.02 and I am having problems trying to find a really nice "clean" amp that has volume when using only the PRE's. It seems like some of the PRE's are awesome just on their own, then there are a few that need a boost, then there's a few that just don't have any power on their own. I like to build from the ground up to see how the amp sounds "naked" first then start adding stuff here and there. Here she is...

More than likely your cab has an 8ohm MONO and 4ohm STEREO option, correct? Use the unbalanced outs from the HD Pro, split the poweramp to run both channels at 4ohms which gives you around 350W per side, then go out to the STEREO jacks on the cab....

@ kevanprince, I'm using a Crown XLS1000. Just nice clean power! Pretty neutral, no color. Let's the cabs voice come thru...

Oh yeah. I use my HD Pro with my M9 and it works great! I use it for all of the "post" effects (mods, verbs, delays, etc.) and it works like Zap says with the MIDI connected! the good thing about my rig is I never run out of DSP. I use the "pre" models and real guitar cabs, all of my patches are dual amps!

If you're recording to your DAW, then of course the STUDIO/DIRECT mode is the obvious choice. But, if you want to play out live then it opens up a whole plethora of options! Personally, I use mine with a power amp and 2x12 guitar cab. You would think I would go with the POWERAMP/CAB setting but I don't. I used what sounded best to me and it was FRONT OF STACK setting with a few twekas on the other parameters. I also only use the "PRE" models without any cab sims as I let my cabs voice do it's thang. I have two Marshall 2x12 cabs, one with 75's the other with V30s. Use whatever setting sounds good to you! Give us a breakdown of your gear, or what you have in mind. I'm sure someone with a similar rig will help you out. Good luck bro..

Yes you can mess it up! USE AN 8 OHM ATTENUATOR!! Weber (affordable) makes a cool one so does Palmer ($$$). Also want to to match the wattage which will be about 50W.

I put an Eminence Red, White and Blues in mine and I run it with a marshall 2x12 cab with 75's in it. The Eminence is 120W and sounds very clear, coupled with the scooped deep thump from the marshall it's a match made in Heaven!
