Can I use Lithium-Ion batteries in my XDV70L beltpacks? For instance the Ultrafire Lithium-Ion Battery type 18650. 3,7 Volt/2400 mAh.

First of all, I did the first live gig with my new setup today and heard nothing of distortion at all, so that's great.

I still notice the distortion with my headphones though. I do think now it's at the lowest levels (where the system "decides" whether or not there's a signal?). Nevertheless I don't have this with a cabled mic at these low levels.

Secondly, I did a check on a small Yamaha MG mixer today and on that the signal showed less distortion, but it seemed allmost gated (no compressor or anything hooked up): as if there was a certain threshold above which the signal was just fine: very bright and clear. Beneath it the signal was way softer. There seemed to be a sort of jump between the two levels. I don't know if my description makes sense to you, but let me know.

I can't check with a oscilloscope, phantom power is switched off and I don't hear a thing with the wireless up without a mic attached. But, like I said, I tested it it with two of those headmic's I mentioned and your own lav. They all show this distortion.

Thanks for your reply, but I think you´re getting me wrong. There is no distortion caused by clipping, it is clearly noticeable on low levels. Rather at whispering level than at screaming level (we do theatre). I experience no distortion when plugging in a SM58 (cabled) on the same channel.

I´m not trying to corelate the two. I monitor the channel by PFL and set my gain while using my normal acting/speaking voice to around 0dB. When I lower the volume of my voice the distortion is clearly there. If I then insert my compressor it is - of course - even more noticeable.

I notice this distortion with both your lav mic as my Beyerdynamic Opus 54.18 headworn mic.

Hi,

I´ve recently upgraded to a higher quality console and am experiencing some distortion on my 2 XD-V70L´s now (I went from a Behringer to a Soundcraft). I´ve tested the console and channel strips; that´s fine. Gain levels are set correctly too. Used two sets of new Alkaline batteries. Then I´ve tried both your lav as well as two headworn mics, but the two sets are showing the same problem. Especially on low level 'oh'-s and 'ah'-s.

What to do?

Well, switching to low sure does the trick! It´s great; I hear nothing of this interference anymore.

I got worried of course, but especially because we will be using these for our music theatre productions where in a number of scenes you hear nothing but a single voice.

(Perhaps it´s an idea to set the default setting to low?)

If you mean the cables between the receivers and my console; they are good, balanced XLR-cables. My two receivers are built in a 19" rack, the two antennas of the first unit are front mounted and cascaded on the back of the first unit into the second unit and the "end plugs" are screwed on the antennas out of the second unit. The XLR cables run straight back, away from the antennas. And the antennas are pointing in different directions.

If you mean the cables of the headworn mics (Beyerdynamic Opus); I don´t think there is anything wrong with those. By the way, your lav mic is showing this artifact as well. You are not telling me that you are selling less than perfect mics now, are you?

And am I correct that the audible effect of the mute and the turn off function is the same (so it wouldn´t matter whether I turned it off or muted it) or is there a difference?

Hi,

Today I received my two XD-V70L´s. That´s great, they look and feel good and rugged!

While installing and testing them for the first time, I noticed that under a certain angle the microphone(wire) of my headworn microphone - a Beyerdynamic Opus 54.18 - picked up the antenna of the beltpack, resulting in a what I would call a digital like rrrrrrrrrrrrrr-tone. Is this normal (I sure hope not) and/or what to do about it?

And one other thing, there is an audible effect of the mute, which sounds the same as when you turn the beltpack off - a soft "thuh". Why does it not mute-mute?
