I cant seem to get my computer to recognize my amp to do the firmware update.. HELP!! Spider Valve Mkii HD100

For some reason my line6 monley and my amp wont speak to each other. I have it hooked up using the FBV shortboard and they are communication fine. Cables are new.. Im at a loss!

I have a SV HD100.. Its still under warranty but at 6 months I have already lost a power tube.. Line 6 is awsome in that they are making this right and having the tube replaced but i wish to be prepaired for the future.. This amp is going with me on our local 7 state tour soon, and if i lose a tube on the road i want to be able to fix it on the bus... 2 questions actually,

1. Besides the proper meter for MA is there anything else i will need? Is it soldered?

2. Any suggestions out there for replacement tubes? JJ's?? Groove tubes?? something that makes an already good sound great? (I know this is an objective question so to help I play hard rock, some drop tuned stuff..) Any suggestions????

I am mechanically inclined but i baby my gear and i want to make sure its right!
