How do I record myself playing while using a mp3 player to play backing tracks?

I have the "RECORD SELECT HOLD FOR REC MODE" set to "MIC/AUX." When I push play on my mp3 player and select the "REC" button on my spider jam, I can record the sounds coming form the mp3 player, but my guitar isn't being recorded.

What do I have to do to record BOTH my playing and the backing track from my mp3 player at the same time? Could someone please give me a step by step guide?

I would really appreciate the assistance.

I Need Clarification About Using The Pod Hd Desktop As The Default Sound Card

This might sound like a silly question, but I just need to make sure. If I were to connect the Pod Hd Desktop to my pc through the usb cable, and use it as my sound card, will I be able to run other programs while playing my guitar through the Pod Hd Desktop? I'll be using headphones.

For example, will I be able to play music with winamp, launch a wmv player, watch and listen to vidoes on you tube while at the same time getting sound playing my guitar through the Pod Hd Desktop? Basically, will it output all audio source?

I ask this because I have Guitar Rig 5 and it's connected to the Behringer UCG102 Guitar Link interface which in turn is set as my output sound device. The problem with that setup is that I can only get sound from one source at a time. For example, If I have Guitar Rig 5 open, I can't run Winamp, Windows Media Player will play movies with no sound, Youtube videos will play with no sound. If I want to hear the sound from Winamp, Youtube, or any video player, I would have to close guitar rig 5 first. Apparently, the ASIO drivers for my interface won't allow sounds from multiple applications.

I was told that the Pod Studio UX2, If used as the default sound card would allow me to play Guitar Rig 5 and Pod Farm while hearing sound from all sources like how my normal pc would work.

With that in mind, will the Pod Hd Desktop set as the default sound card and hooked up to headphones allow me to listen to mp3's with Winamp, play and hear movies with my media player and youtube while at the same time giving me the sound from my guitar?

I don't know if it's multiclient or not though. Will this be an issue with using the pod studio?

With the pod studio, can I just plug and play and be able to run all of those other applications?

will a pod studio allow me to play my guitar with my speakers while using winamp to play background music?

I bought a behringer guitar link and hooked that up to guitar rig 5, but because of the asio drivers, I was only able to use one application at a time and that's not what I want.

I just want to hook up my guitar to my computer and play through my speakers. More importantly, I want to be able to run other programs while I'm playing my guitar. I'd like to be able to run winamp, youtube, windows media player, and etc so that I can just simply jam along with the music that I like. Also, I'd also like to be able to listen to headphones while running all these programs and playing at the same time, that way I don't have to disturb others.

Would the pod studio allow me to do this? If not, what line 6 product would be right for me? I just want something something versatile to practice and have fun with.
