Spiderjam volume problem

*** PLEASE NOTE. THIS IS A DIRECT QUESTION TO LINE 6 SUPPORT. IT IS NOT FOR THE COMMUNITY.

Hi. I have a Spiderjam which I bought 3 years ago and it is now showing problems with volume. I only use it a couple of times a week and never at high volume levels.

The problem is that whilst playing the guitar,or recording from my drum machine, whatever, the volume mysteriously goes down and then comes up again after a few seconds. For instance. Whilst recording a 3 minute drum pattern from my drum machine, the volume dips 3 or 4 times. The volume doesn't drop down completely, but there is a considerable reduction in volume. For further information, when I record onto the s.d. card and put it on my computer the reduction in volume can be clearly seen.

Also,to give you as much information as possible .It doesn't happen all the time, but happens on all inputs. Could you please reply to my E-mail directly as I haven't used the forum recently, and am not that au fait with accessing replies.

     Thank you,Derek

THIS IS MEANT FOR LINE6 TECHNICAL SUPPORT,NOT FOR THOSE WHO HAVE SUPERIOR RECORDING GEAR.

I've been recording on the Spider for around 2 years now,and produced some pretty decent stuff on a budget,(or so I'm told). Try Utube"22thebrownie". The problem is that the Spider is limited to 2 channels effectively when I use my drum machine, which doesn't give much scope! Ideally I would like a minimum of 4 channels to play with but preferably more. Because I rely on the Spider sd card(my computer is in a different room),what does Line 6 have available to do the job?

Also. Has there been any software updates on the Spider over the last couple of years?

     Thanks,

                Decker

When I record a song on the Spiderjam,I save it to internal. Having done that and re-checked that it's o.k.,I then transfer it to the SD card as WAV.

But,when I reload it back to the Spider the quality of sound is not as bright,or clear as the original recording. Why is this? I need to transfer it as WAV, or my computer doesn't recognise it,and I can't make a C.D.

Also, can you please enlighten me what DAW is.

Thank you,

                   Decca

Thanks Joe,

I realize that the Spiderjam has its limitations, but I bought it as a multi-purpose tool. I am actually quite pleased with the recordings I've made, apart from those darned endings.

I've made a note of this "audacity" software program you mentioned, but it's going to take some time to get to grips with this computer thing. It's bad enough trying to find my way round the Line6website,and I'm sure it's not their inadequacy that's the problem.

Another Line6 user kindly gave me some info. on another recording program "reaper". What's your thoughts on this one? I'll file this info away for when I am proficient on the computer!

                                                  Many thanks,

                                                                      Decca

Only been using a computer for a couple of weeks,so please bear with me.

I have a Spiderjam, and I like to make recordings. It's pretty good, but it is difficult to obtain decent endings to the recordings when using a drum track. i.e.It is only possible to chop off the ending, which is very difficult,as there appears to be a time delay between hitting the switch and the thing stopping. Also, hitting the switch kills everything and makes it abrupt. It is not possible to let a guitar ring for instance,or to let an echo carry on when the drum has stopped. I think I've managed to put in a request for fading out endings, which would be very useful too.

I would be very grateful for any feedback on this matter,or for any help from like-minded users.

               Thanks,

                         Decca
