I noticed they removed the announcement at the top about Firmware v1.9.

Maybe that's a sign that v 2.0 will be out soon.

My 2 cents:

I've used Boss gear for years. My current rig is a Roland GR55 and a guitar with a GK pickup.

A few months ago I bought a used JTV-89/HD500 setup. Long story short, I didn't think it was sufficiently better sounding than the Roland to justify dealing with the (what I perceive to be) shortcomings of the LIne 6 products. The JTV just seems noisy (hissy, scratchy) to me. Maybe I need to adjust, clean, replace some of the piezo elements, or something like that.

Admittedly, the JTV has more guitar models and the HD500 has more buttons so you can control more effects. However, I'm sticking with the Roland because it does what I need with less hassle. ymmv.

I know this is a Line 6 board and I hope it doesn't sound like I'm bashing anyone--just reporting my experience.

Hi Jeroen,

I think it's common to hear "clashing" overtones when playing 3rd and 6th intervals. Perfect intervals (4th, 5th, and octave) sound 'smoother" when played together.

It might help to turn down the hum setting in the amp parameters

I'm using just a regular cat5 ethernet cable.

Does the official Line 6 cable perform any different, better, less noise, etc?

All I can say is that I never heard a tube amp produce a noise like the HD500 did before I turned down the hum. ymmv

Thanks for the tip about lowering the HUM parameter to remove ghost notes. I was ready to get rid of the HD500 before I read this.

You may want to check the manual on the GR55.

I have one and the 12 string capabilities are one of my favorites.

However, I believe when you select the 12 string function, you cannot also raise or lower the overall pitch like you can when not in 12 string mode.

I also have the a JTV89/HD500 setup. I think Roland does a better job of guitar modeling.
