Just go to the Control Panel -> Line6 Midi device and uncheck +18db checkbox at the Recording tab.

The only annoying thing is that you need to do this maneuver every time you're connecting your POD to PC.

Is there a way to download these new 1.40 presets separately? Whe I updated the firmware I chose the option to keep the old presets to not lose my own tones.

Guys, correct me if I'm wrong but:

1) When we set up input1=guitar and input2=same, POD doesn't use any other hardware input - it just splits your input1 into two flows (A and B). So when you use stereo effects your signal will flow both A and B directions.

2) When we set up input1=guitar and input2=Variax POD uses your guitar signal for A flow and Variax hardware input for B flow. It means that you have "nothing" flowing into your B flow. So you could hear loss of the certain amount of signal using stereo effects.

Hence the summary of my post: Using input2 set to whatever unplugged input is WRONG.

Crusty, let me please put my 2 words into the discussion. As I said before the PREs are amazing (no harsh, no fizzes, no digital clipping) and they sounds better than HDs Full Amps into the power amp of any live amp. I always use PRE at the live shows and rehearsals with my HD500 connected to the FX Return.

Hey guys!

I think I can still hear fizzes but not as much as before and PAD control almost helps me. By the way amps now sounds better. I hope Line6 didn't "re-dialed" PRE amps as they was sounding good in pre firmware and there was no case with clipping and fizzies.

I agree... It seems like the process is not full automated now. Mine XT which was released in 2007 was clean as Cinderella's house when I disassembled it

Just set your looper to the end of your chain - press POST switch and ensure that looper goes to the end of the chain in the signal flow view.

Yes, HD500 has USB Audio interface so it acts as an external soundcard.
