Converting a 220V Spider Valve MKI to 110V

Hey guys!!

I've brought a 220V Spider Valve 112 MKI from Portugal to Brazil, and the grid here is 110V. Are there any special recommendations for converting my amp to 110V? I have a tech company that does maintance for people I trust, but I wonder if there are any special recommendations I should keep in mind.

Thanks.

Diogo

In Portugal, the grid is 220v, but in Brazil it's 110v (in most states, mainly where I live), and I've been playing hooking the amp up to a power converter. But I want the change to be permanent, specially since the converter always half-dies down mid-gig.

Any special sugestions as to how I should proceed, or can I just take it to an electrician and rewire the amp to be 110V?

I mean, can you set the EXP pedal to control the "mouth"? I confess I haven't tried that hard to get it to work, and was just wondering if anyone actually pulled this off.

My computer screen works perfectly. I do get a hum when the master is turned all the way up, so the speakers are working, and the valves light up and get warm when I turn it on, so it doesn't seem like a problem with them.

I imagine I'll probably have to get it serviced, but I really would like to understand what's wrong and if it was caused by improper use or care on my part. Last Friday it was working great, I put it back in the case a little warm and the next day it didn't work at all...

Problems with my Spider Valve 112

So I was doing a soundcheck for a gig on saturday, and my SV 112 simply wouldn't play. The screen was on, all the lights were on, the two valves were lighting up nicely, but no sound. I checked the speaker connections and everything seemed fine. The previous night it had worked just fine, but I may have put in back in the case while it was still a little warm (don't know if that's really a problem) - it wasn't HOT, just still warm.

I still haven't been able to test it yet since, cause the damn thing caused me to throw my back while loading it back in the car. Turns out that, with the case, it weighs about 70lbs (and I don't really work out).

Anyone have any thoughts on what might have happened?

But turns out it was a simple, stupid thing. The amp is 220v and the electric grid in my area is 110v. So I just bought a transformer and now it works perfect.

Thanks for the response, though!

I bought a SV 112 about a couple of months ago and it was working perfectly. Every time I played it, it would heat up apropriately. After following recommendations from Line6 staff (via Facebook), I stuffed the tube cage with foam to help keep them in place while transporting my SV by plane (in a flight case). Now, the amp doesn't seem to sound as great, and the tubes aren't really getting any hot. Also, the volume seems low.

What could be wrong and what should I do? It's not exactly easy to find authorized service here in Brazil.
