Thanks for the quick reply. My adaptor is has the ring below the tip so its a TRS. But i'll go get another adaptor asap to try it out. And there is an error with what i said in my 1st post about "Both the left and right are at an approximately equal volume with the phones knob set to 0 boost". When i'm using my AKG K450 with the phones knob set to 0, the left side produces a sound ar a barely audible level and the right side has NO volume at all. But as i turn the knob, the left side remains at the original barely audible level and the right side is boosted with regards to the level of boosting. Next, as i plugged in my ipod earphones when the phones knob is set to 0, both sides have NO volume at all. As i turn the knob, the volume on both sides increase in tandem proportionate to the amount of boost. Sounds like problem solved right? I thought so too. But when i play one of those songs with those guitars panning left and right, the problem returns again where only sound on 1 side can be heard.

My headphones and 3.5mm stereo jack adaptor are working fine as i have tested them with the phones output of my amp. I am able to get the mp3 output from itunes as well as my bass playing from the headphones. The problem comes when i try to increase the volume of the phones via the knob, only the right side experiences and and the left side remains at the original. & I am using windows vista. I have tried going to Control Panel> Hardware & Sound > Manage Audio Devices > select UX2 > Properties. Under "Levels" the balance is equal. But when i click on "Test", the sound check comes with the uneven sound balance. Both the left and right are at an approximately equal volume with the phones knob set to 0 boost. But as i turn the knob, the right side gets increasing louder whereas the left side remains at the original volume. I really wish that this isnt a hardware issue as it very difficult for me to send it for servicing as the nearest centre is in the next town. I hope somebody will be able to help me out. Thanks in advance.
