spectrum audio still have the item up on their site for sale: see - http://www.spectrumaudio.com/line-6-50-04-0181-4.html but I can't accept the $45 odd they want to charge for shipment to Australia. Awaiting email response from (newly appointed) Line 6 service agent in Sydney to verify they can supply said unit. I have been quoted around $28AUD for the jack plate, but 6-8 weeks wait.......

AAAARGH!

currently this is achievable, but only indirectly, and you need a mac laptop, and an ipad/iphone connected to the laptop via Air Display... http://avatron.com/apps/air-display

I don't know if the laptop can be pc with an ipad or not - the link should clarify things.

So you would connect your pod to the computer, and control pod edit via the ipad screen, which controls the computer.

The ideal would certainly be for L6 to not only upgrade pod edit, but also to release it in ipad app form. An ipad camera connector kit is needed which can be picked up cheap all over the place.

There are so many requests for this idea, or that idea that L6 have to choose what's worth following up.....

Maybe all their research is going ino combining the DT50 and the PodHD into one all-powerful amp/fx setup at an affordable price???? (just sayin..)

No harm in putting in a request through the official channels tho!

Line 6 has a default folder, and will (unless you change it) always look for that folder for saving new/changed patches to. You are better to just search (in finder) for .h5e files and become familiar with their location, otherwise your system will get messy and you'll have those files in multiple locations, and updating can become a nightmare. Keep it simple!

I just read back last night's reply and I didn't make it as clear as I had hoped. I have both mac and pc and this process is exactly the same regardless of platform.

I don't use control or any other keys - I just drag it with the mouse. Drag and drop within a setlist just swaps the location of the patches concerned. Drag a patch from one setlist to another and that patch replaces the one you drag it to.

Bring on "copy/paste/undo" please line 6!

ok so finding things is not always easy here.....

I'm sure these things have been covered somewhere around here sometime ago.

HD edit software is (let me not put too much of a sheen on my words here,) in some ways retarded in it's functionality, in so much as it completely ignores some tried and true means of achieving one's goals. Unfortunately there is no copy/paste function in HD edit (it's 2012 already what gives here.. don't even get me started on there being no undo function!!!!).

In order to "copy" a patch to another location you drag it from one setlist to another setlist, and if you want it in the original setlist but in another bank or patch, you then have to drag it back to that place (from where you just copied it to). This "drag" manouvre copies that patch over the original one. If you drop it inadvertently over the wrong patch, you have to disconnect the unit (or close down HD edit and restart it), in order for this error to be undone. You then save to HD unit to load it.

Never having uploaded anything to customtone, I would assume you would go the upload page on customtone, click on an upload link, then find the patch on your mac (just look at where it's being saved as you save it.)

To use the amp's volume instead of an FX block, (personally I dunno why people have to use so many FX to get a good tone, but anyway....) go to Controllers in HD edit, and then under model select the amp, and under parameters select the volume, assign it to Exp 1/2 whichever you want.

If I am wrong on any of this, I am sure someone with more experience than me will chime in soon.

Post firmware 2 update, I had this problem althought it appeared to be intermittent - I copied a bank of patches to make a variation on that bank and changed the delay I had to a univibe, selected the patches ,saved to the pod, disconnected from the computer, switched on the effect and got the "SCREECH" at ear splitting level that had been reported, but I had not heard - not at all good with in ear phones. I repeated the proces (of saving to the pod) and this time checked the patch while still connected via usb, and confirmed it was ok. Disconnected again, and this time the delay was still there and no univibe!?

I repeated my steps again a few more times (I think I may even have powered off/on the unit, not sure) and finally it saved correctly and I haven't had a repetition of the problem (yet). Interestingly the screech was barely there (in fact built up slowly from nothing, but still appeared) in patch A (I make the patches increase in volume and crunch from A to D), but ripped my head off in D.

Hopefully this was a one off glitch!

cheers for the reply - I'm kinda threadjacking here but I guess it's all related...

I had assumed you knew about the Variax output being quite a bit hotter than mag p/ups, and I had found this irritating in a live setup. My fav guitar is a Strat with Kinman pickups, but the Variax is obviously more varied in sound possibilities so it gets a good run as well.

I changed the variax output volume in Workbench (dropped it by 3db on all patches - I couldn't see how to do it globally), and set the HD500 input globally to input 1 Guit+Variax and input 2 to same.

As well as a couple of other changes (including changing the HD output to Line/Studio), now running the line outs to my tube power amp (very clean and transparent) into a 2x12 cab, the whole sound has improved beyond my expectations - very dynamic and responsive.

Thaks very much for all your work in the HD arena and for helping fellow users trying to make sense of a great bit of kit!!!
