Is the HD PRO's Mic Preamp Modeller any good?

I was wondering, has anyone tried the HD's Mic Preamp Modeller? What is it best used for?

Hard gate after Tubescreamer?

Hi, I'm having trouble trying to figure out the best possible way to place my hard gate in my HD Pro. I'm using my heavy rhythm patch with a lot of staccato notes. I'm using to hard gate to cut out the excess noise after every mutes but so far, I'm getting the ek ek ek, tremolo-ish effect. I've read Meambobo's fantastic guide and have a real good idea on what it is, it's just that, I can't seem to get it spot on. I've been messing around with it for a couple of hours now.

I then placed the hard gate after the screamer. It worked good but each time I sustained a mute, I get a very bad feedback from my Marshall JCM800 amp. I'm my HD Pro bypass my Marshall head, just using the power amp for this patch. Plus, it's been said that it's not the right to have a gate after the screamers from what I read around forums.

So, what's a good setting to start off?

Thanks for your reply. Right now, I'm leaning more towards Line 6's FBV Shortboard because I love its sleek all black theme and the expression pedal seemed solid to me with my POD HD500 experience. However, after blowing most of my money on the HD PRO, to get the FBV would be a bit hard.

I've done some research about the FCB 1010 and found it to be really big? Also, it has a really steep learning curve. I would love to hear some experienced thoughts on this though.

Help choosing a Footswitch for my HD PRO?

Hello all,

I've just bought the HD PRO and am looking to get a decent footswtich for it. I've checked out the Line 6 FBV Shortboard but to be honest, it's a wee bit too expensive. Chances upon the Behringer FCB1010 though. What do you guys think of it? Yay or nay?

Yes, I currently do own the HD 500 and I love it. The key reason I leaned towards getting the POD HD Pro was it's a rack-mount. Fits nicely for my studio as that's what I do most of the time. Thanks for the input!

Upgrading from POD HD 500?

I was thinking of the POD HD Pro, I know it doesn't match up to the godly Axe-Fx II but it's really affordable. I'm looking for a rack setup, priority would be my studio work before shows but it works both ways I feel. I've got a couple of questions though. Would it work good for recording bass? I know it's perfect for guitar. I'm also thinking of using impulses with their amp sims, can I do that?

Lastly, do you think it's a good upgrade? Would love to hear your thoughts on it!

Hello jimsreynolds,

I did what you suggested right after I updated the firmware. It's not a dark model but I felt it's a little bit too muddy and lacks clarity/hair when you do chords and stuff. Almost muffled.
