Yes, this is a fact now, many users reported it, as soon as you plug in a 1/4 inch jack the battery get drained out even if it is a stereo jack connected to the XPS and the XPS won't recharge it, so I guess it is better to use one or the other.

The manual probably do not state it because Line 6 stop making the XPS and they aren't included with JTV variax anymore since the battery has way more capacity than they use to have in the older model.

I totally agree... I have never been able to get decent metal tone with the current pickup models even when trying to build hybrid using workbench. I guess this is much of a concern when getting the 89 and expect it to be a shredding guitar, but only have vintage guitar models, still the variax could be much more versatil by adding a few modern guitar model.

I guess the only thing we can do is log feature request, I think in the last 4-5 years I probably already log it a few times.

I don't know if Rich Renken chimed in in this thread, but he did on a TGP thread and clearly said that Line 6 got the message about their cabinet. However, he also said that they do not think the solution is simply allowing IR to be loaded up and they were investigating something else. This is reassuring, but my concerns is that if they are working on something that is more complexe that it basically slip into the next gen...

Hi,

My 69 is also showing problem 1 and 5. I brought mine to a guitar maker who also fix guitars and he fixed problem 1 in like 2 seconds by re-aligning the neck and crew it in some more to stabilize it. Outside of that however he said the neck was perfect.

Problem 5 is I believe a design flaw where the angle of the strings from the nuts to the tuner isn't big enough so we are earing ringing, the solution is again quite simple you just have to install in those stings holders we often see on stratocasters to bring the angle down.

Agreed both problems should have been taken care of since they are quite obvious and seems to affect all 69 models.

One other thing that is bugging me with mine is that the switch to toggle in between modeling and regular pickups is quite hard to push in and it is almost a hit and miss, you never know when you got it engage or not.

Rich, what's your point of view on those problems at Line 6 should we all create supports tickets for those problems? Can your service center address them? Because like the OP said I don't want to have it exchange to have another guitar with the same problems or even worst like it seems to be in some cases.

Totally agree... this would give us so much more...

1- Real FX Loop pipeline

2- Ability to mix match preamp - poweramp

3- Ability to use 1 preamp in 2 poweramp and cabinet or 2 preamp in 1 poweramp and save processing power

I logged that one in a long time ago, right after improved cabinet(IR)

Hi Andy,

This is a problem with all Variax, I have a 600, Acoustic 700 and a Bass 705 and they all do this. I was curious if the new one had that problem too, but I guess you just provide the answer. It seems to me that using both connection at once creates some kind of ground loop.

On my end I was trying to use the VDI to just provide power while using the 1/4 inch for the guitar sound, but as you pointed out it is useless. So I drop the VDI usage all together and I'm using the 1/4 inch with the power supply and then split the output signal to multiple device if need be.

If you get an official answer from Line6 please post it back I would be curious to know the reason why. When I realise all variax where doing it I conclude it was a design flaw and never bother reporting it.

I missed your post originally... thanks for the patches, however it just emphasis how ridiculous the EQ offering vs the maximum FX slot amount is. But it shows that it could be a solution if they were to implement an graphical EQ directly on the cab.

Thread popularity over here seems to usually follows the expert and they seems to like the cabinet as they are... in fact the pod hd cabs are a mystery to me at this point. I'm like you I always seems to fight with them to set them up and to me it is clear to be the weakest part of the HD, but you read other users and they do not see any problem with them even if the HD doesn't sound like anything else on the market....

Spinal Puppet was a good one I also used... there was actually a few interesting Line 6 original on the XT/X3.
