I understand your point about moving the pickup selector switch or model switch changing the guitar patch to a differnet guitar. Are you also saying that moving the tone control will change guitars or will simply change the operation of the tone control on the guitar model selected by the foot controller. Thanks for the clarification.

I ordered a JTV-59CSB last June and received it in January, 2011 from Elderly Instruments. The switch was defective and I returned it to Line 6 for replacement. I got the guitar back within a couple of weeks. The new switch had the too small washer and a black tip. I contacted Line 6 through my support ticket and received a new washer and a new cream colored tip within a few days. I also did not receive the correct wrenches with the original shipment. Line 6 sent the correct wrenches within a reasonable amount of time. I would have preferred that everything was perfect in the original shipment but I recognized that there might be some glitches with the early adopters. Line 6 responded very promptly and courteously to resolve my issues. So far I am very pleased with the guitar. I truly sympathize with those of you still waiting and hopefully you will also be pleased with the guitar once you receive it.

JTV in Custom Tones

Are there any plans to include the JTV in CustomTone.com? I seem to recall that Institute of Noise or some other site had a collection of Variax patches. It would really be helpful for those of us not as proficient in using Workbench to have a place where we could try out patches for the various modeled guitars that others have created. I found several patches in the past that really helped the sounds in my old Vatriax 300. I have the JTV-59CSB with the replaced switch and while it sounds much better than the 300, I could really benefit from the patches created by some of the forum members, especially on the 12 string and accoustic models. Thanks for the consideration.

I thought it maight be useful to seee the timeline on my JTV-59 with a switch issue.

6/10/11 - Ordered JTV-59CSB from Elderly Instruments

1/12/11 - Received JTV-59

1/21/11 - Support ticket opened to repair switch

1/26/11 - Received email from Line 6 estimating 2 week turnaround to repair switch

2/10/11 - Repair RMA number issued and UPS call tag issued

Thanks for the honest reply. If Edit probably will not be updated to work with the JTV, what about Gearbox? Gearbox recognizes the JTV if you are using an X3Live. Maybe Gerabox could be updated to work with the XTLive and the JTV. If neither will be updated do I need to go into Edit and disable the control of the Variax by the XTLive? Of course this would mean that I could not use the XTLive to control my Variax 300 and I would be left with the choice of using the XTLive only with the Variax 300 ( and being able to contol the moderls) or the JTV (and not being able to control the models). Not really a pleasant alternative.

I have had a support ticket for several days with respect to the JTV-59 switch issue as well as a request for the wrench set which was not included with my JTV. Any estimate of when I will get the authorization to return my JTV to replace the switch and also an estimate of how long it will take to get it back in good working condition?

JTV and Pod XTLive

I have a JTV-59 with the switch issue and have a support ticket that tells me to wait on the replacement part. I have also posted on several community forums and support forums trying to get an answer from Line 6 as to whether Edit or Gerabox will be updated to allow my Pod XTLive to switch models on my JTV like it does on my Variax 300. I have even spoken to a line 6 support rep who said he would try to find out, but no word from Line 6. The early promo from Line 6 on the JTV indicated that it would work with all existing line 6 gear, although I seem to recall reading some posts that the JTV was not working with the Vetta amps. Please Line 6, let me know whether Edit or Gearbox will be revised or whether there will be some other software that will let me use my Pod XTLive with the JTV. I would like to get this information before my return period expires in early February. Thank you.

I have a defective JTV-59 and Line 6 suggested I try the following (not in lieu of returning the guitar to Line 6 for a total and complete fix, but merely something to try). He suggested doing a hard reset of the guitar as follows:

First, disconnect the CAT-5 cable

Then, with the model off, press and hold the Alt-tuning knob until the model knob flashes white once and while holding down reconnect the CAT-5 cable.

Then, press the model knob until it turns blue.

That supposedly resets the hardware. I will try it this evening when I get home and let everyone know if it helps.

By the way for any of you POD XTLive users, Line 6 confirmed that currently neither Edit or Gearbox will work with the JTV for switching models. They promised to let me know if there will be any updates to Edit or Gearbox to solve this issue, but I am not hopeful. I guess they expect me to upgrade my Variax 300 and XTLive, which both work fine, to a JTV and HD-500 for about $1900. I am not sure it is worth the cost and will likely return the JTV unless they fix it for good and they make my XTLive work with it.
