Hi,

I want to set up a patch, then connect my Boss DR5 drum machine to the X3 live to record backing tracks in stereo via USB (using Cubase). Then after that, connect my guitar, change patch and USB record solo tracks as I normally do.

I have got the X3 live into Cubase via USB fine for the soloing.

My question is: How can I ensure I get the most accurate 'though' so the DR5 records as 'true' as possible (no effects added)?

I've created a patch for this, using 1/4" guitar and aux inputs for the stereo. But I can't seem to get a true enough sound yet.

Can anyone help with ideas or settings?

Hi All. I am getting a Spider Valve 212 Mk2 (upgrading from Spider 3 150) next week (I live in UK) but I have no experience yet with valve amps. Can anyone tell me what to expect regarding the amp maintenance (I am a semi-skilled engineer)?

What is the usual relationship between amp use (bedroom practice or full-on stage performance) and valve lifespan? How often do valves need replacing, do they usually give you any warning or do they just fail? Where should you get them and how much do they cost? Are they specific or are there different substitutes, and is quality an issue? Does a tech have to calibrate them (or anything) or can the player change them?

Any help or advice would be much appreciated. Thank you.
