Yeah I feel the same and I've tried playing with the 4CM methods mentioned and still never got what I wanted.... Think I'll have to re-vist this....

Sadly the answer is no, you can only connect with the USB..... Good luck getting it taken care of....

Updating this device is pretty painless, they've simplied it I believe as much as possible

Go here:

and if you don't have it download the Line6 Monkey software for your device, just select HD300 from the top "Products" drop down...... Once it's downloaded, hook up your HD300 via USB cable to your computer and launch the Monkey software..... You will have to log in to your Line6 account at the top of the program, then click on the button to search for available updates. it tells you what to do from there.

SEND IT BACK! No use in trying to fix it yourself unless you know electroics and take the HD500 apart and replace the socket yourself..... Otherwise send it back, and if you decide to try another used one, ask to see a picture of the USB to be sure it is intact...

That's a lot of good requests and I never thought about a lot of them but most do make sense.
