I have tried changing the settings in mixer view and then I closed podfarm standalone (I do not know if you have to). I set my recording programme to record a track and then turned standalone on and played and it recorded the processed sound. I did not have to change it in Line 6 Audio - Midi devices.

(At first I forgot to turn pod farm back on and it only recorded the unprocessed sound , and then I realised that I had to have pod farm standalone on. It then worked.

Try doing this and see if it works for you.

God Bless,

David

If you change the settings in mixer view I think it should change it to the processed sound. I haven't got my guitar plugged in just yet but I know that I have recorded processed audio as well as un processed. I tried changing it in mixer view but it did not change the setting in the Line 6 Audio-Midi devices box. I will have a go with my guitar later and see if it changes it.

If you do, then open it and click on the 'mixer view' button. Then go to 'send 1-2' and 'send 3-4', and if you want your recording programme to have the option of recording processed as well as unprocessed sounds, then click in the bok above them and make one of these two 'dry input' and the other 'tone A' (might say tone b also and tone a-b, depending on the type of preset you are using in podfarm).

If you choose dry input as send 1-2 and tone a send 3-4, then in your recording programme you would make a new track and select the input that you prefer. If you want the dry unprocessed sound, then select send 1 or 2 (or send 1-2 if you want a stereo track). If you want processed, select send 3 or 4 (or send 3-4 for stereo). If you want to record both at once, you can create two tracks and select one as i.e. send 1, and the other as send 3 (or whichever number) and you will then get one track recorded with the unprocessed sound and another with the processed sound.

Hope this helps,

God Bless,

David

Then move the sliding knob/lever to the along to the left. Then play your guitar. If the sound is stopping and starting or making pop noises, then move the slider to the right one place until it sounds better.

I am not sure what else could be doing this.

I hope you get it working.

Let me know if it still is not working.

Maybe someone else has some ideas about what could be the cause of this problem.

God Bless you,

David

Hi Marijn,

It could be a few possible things. Please forgive me for asking - I am just asking in case it could be the following. How do you have your speakers or headphones set up? Are they connected to the ux2, or are you using a sound card in the computer?

In case you are using another soundcard, you will need to connect your headphones/monitors or whatever, to the ux2.

If its not that, then can you tell me if you get sound when you play an audio file on the computer?

If you can't hear any sound, then it is probably that the ux2 isn't enabled in windows' recording/playback devices (not sure what it's called in win 7 - but the little speaker symbol bottom right of screen. If you click that and go into the recording settings and also the playback settings, and make sure that the ux2 is listed in there, and that it is enabled. if it is not there, I think you just right click in a blank space in the box and it should give you the option of showing other devices or something similar. Then enable the ux2 and then go into it's settings by double clicking it and just make sure the volume sliders are up enough in the different areas. Then apply and then probably disconnect and reconnect the ux2 (maybe not need to do this) and check if it is now working.

Let me know if neither of these things help and I'll try and help more.

God Bless,

David

Hi,

I have had a look in the guide and it says it indicates a usb error.

It suggests first checking that the cable is totally plugged in and that its ok.

If thats all fine then it says to go into Pod Farm standalone (if you have this) and go to 'Help' and then 'About Pod Farm'.

If the computer and pod farm is not seeing the ux2, then it will say 'No authorised device connected. Pod Farm cannot process audio'.

Here is what else it says:

"It is specifically recommended that you always connect your Line 6 device directly to your computer’s “built-in” USB port and not into a USB hub. USB hubs are known to sometimes cause communication errors with USB audio devices. USB audio devices require a fast, uninterrupted flow of audio data to and from the computer. (For iLok USB keys, these are usually fine connected to any USB 1.1 or 2.0 USB port or hub.) • On Windows® systems, it is not recommended that you connect more than one PODxt or POD X3 family device to the computer at the same time. These Line 6 devices utilize a common device driver and only one can be initialized at a time. • USB connection to your Line 6 hardware is required in order to use the audio features of POD Farm 2 in standalone operation.* POD Farm 2 Plug-In also requires the connection of the Line 6 device or iLok device which holds your POD Farm 2 license to launch in an authorized state. So make sure your device is connected to your computer via USB and powered on.

If you believe that your USB connection is OK, try re-installing the Line 6 device’s Driver or POD Farm 2 software. (Reinstalling POD Farm 2 will not affect any Tone Presets that you’ve stored.) The easiest way to do this is to run Line 6 Monkey with your Line 6 device connected and go to the Updates tab. Here you will see if you have the latest device driver and POD Farm 2 software versions installed. You can download and install any available updates here by selecting them in the Monkey Updates tab, or choose to re-install the same versions to make sure all is configured correctly. Just follow the steps as prompted by Line 6 Monkey. iLok USB Issues If you are using the POD Farm 2 Plug-In for iLok, and you have your iLok correctly connected to your USB port, but POD Farm 2 Plug-In is displaying a “not authorized” error, check the following: • Is the LED on the iLok key lit? If not, then the iLok USB key may either not be inserted or installed correctly. Try exiting all audio software, then remove and reinsert the iLok key, or try it in a different USB port. • Go to iLok.com, log in to your iLok account and check that the POD Farm 2 license is correctly installed on your iLok key. • Check to see if there is an updated driver for the iLok USB key at iLok.com - if so, install the new driver following their instructions. • You can find the details for your purchased POD Farm 2 Plug-In for iLok on your Line 6 account as well. For instructions on purchasing the POD Farm 2 for iLok license and configuration, please see “POD Farm 2 Plug-In for iLok” on page 1•7. p Return to “Troubleshooting” Contents "

Here is the link to the guide if you want to have a look :

http://line6.com/data/6/0a060b316ac34f0593c764e79/application/pdf/POD%20Farm%202%20Advanced%20User%20Guide%20-%20English%20%28%20Rev%20B%20%29.pdf

I hope this can help,

God Bless,

David

Hi,

Standalone uses a different method of working with the audio than the plugin does. It uses it's own path. In my setup it is noticable. If I listen via the plugin on a project, I can hear a delay, wheras if I use standalone, it is not there. I can't really remember what its like when just having the one track - I can only remember trying it with lots of tracks running at once. I expect that the better the specs etc., the quicker the plugin will be and so maybe it can't then be noticed.

I suppose the best way to see the effect of tracks/cpu/ram etc. would be if different people with different specs all had the same tracks etc. and then routed the audio so that a snare playing would go out to output and then record it back into a mic and onto another track and then see how far out of synch on the timeline it is. One day I'll try this. I've thought about doing it but never got around to doing it . I know some people have though.

By the way, you mentioned having to have standalone open to use mic + guitar. Does it not allow you to open standalone, then set the inputs and then close standalone and record into daw?

Anyway,

God Bless,

David
