By design. Previously there was a problem with data not syncing properly between the HD Edit and the Pod. This was causing corrupt data in some cases and horrible squealing for people. Now there is a more durable sync process .... which is unfortunately slower.

Yes there is but can you explain why?

Basically 4CM puts your amp's pre-amp into the POD HD's FX Loop and always has a connection to the amp's power amp.

If you want to use the Marshall Power amp only then simply turn off the FX loop on the Pod HD. This will sound very lifeless unles you use a modelled amp from the POD also.

I haven't tried it I'm afraid. My HD is currenly taking a break from serious use while I try and find the time and cohones to fix up some unreliable footswitches. My current music life is focussed on an impending acoustic solo gig and some band committments where I use pedals. That and work. And kids. And life. And (occassionally) sleep.

I have no idea what the difference is between the parametric and studio EQs when the gain is boosted .... something apparently. Looks like at least one of them is not truly neutral. Only way to tell is to break out a spectrum analyser I guess.

Weird. I aint got much but just as a sanity check: this happens on all patches right? It is not something silly like volume assigned to expression pedal being pressed when you bend over or something like that.

Well there are a few things you could try.

1) Backup all your patches using HD Edit (latest version, matching the firmware) and restore them. The squealing before was caused by bad data in some patches and this can help clear it.

2) Global settings reset ...

hold down the 'left' button on the directional keypad and power up the Pod. This does a global settings reset and can help. It is also useful if the preset you were working with was corrupt as it jumps you back to patch 1A. If you use this, you will need to check your global settings to make sure they are how you want them. You will also need to recalibrate your expression pedal (details here --> http://line6.com/support/docs/DOC-2223). None of your homemade presets will be lost but your setlist names will be renamed to the default names.

This can sometimes help with weird problems.

If all else fails, try backing up, reflashing (opting to overwrite presets) with firmware and restoring.

Beyond that .... I'm out.

Nice one Bruce. I am starting to get trouble with my up/downs so I will give this a go. That and some switch cleaner spray.

My problem at the moment is 'double clicking' on the switch which is a real PITA so I hope it works.

First off, is your USB cable connected at the time? If so, remove it and try again.

When you talk about dropouts ... yeah there is one but it is usually measured in tens of milliseconds. Many people don't really notice it in practice but I know that some people hear it as jarring and very unmusical so fair enough.

The only thing I would say is that, in my observation, there seems to be some correlation between the order that you initially add effects to a patch and the order in which they are loaded when you select that patch later. I say this because, if you have an effect with a high output level added initially followed by one with a lower output level, the preset can 'spit' noise when it is first loaded. Therefore, not all effects are loaded simultaneously.

It may be that you can partly reduce the discernable gap by carefully selecting which effects are added to the chain in which order. Just thinking aloud here ...

There was a well known problem with some of the earlier pod firmware and this kind of screaming/squealing. The problem was resolved with later firmware. See here --> http://line6.com/support/thread/76099?start=0&tstart=0

Huh yeah, the manual here certainly doesn't but the 'Low' setting is the one that you want. There is a post here which would suggest that Low = -10dBV = Button In .... if you beleive Korg that is and I would have no reason not to ! You may not really notice a difference until the internal levels creep up with tweaking and it starts clipping. Using my setup you should start to discern it on your amp's clean channel.

Otherwise, good luck and tell us how you get on. Useful to know what amps play nice with 4CM!
