Did you buy the 4 or 5 inch version? Just curious on how much of a difference there is. I wonder if anyone has tried the jay mitchell foam doughnut on the DT25 cabinet.

Thanks for the reply Icewind. I play both electric and acoustic but lean a little more on the electric side. I too, at least from what I've heard of the DT amp, am leaning towards that rather than an L3T. However, my wife sings and it would be nice to have the L3T for bothe electric and vocals. Oh my! Decisions, decisions....

Icewind, so what I am after is the comparison of how an electric sounds through the L3T. Do you feel the tone is hindered any playing through the L3T rather than a DT amp? I really want to purchase either a DT or L3T and there has to be a reason line 6 hasn't done a video demo of an electric being played through an L3T. If you personally feel happy with the tone of the electric through the L3T, I would love to hear your honest opinion now that there has been some time since your last post.

So I have a question for line 6. If they want to really sell the L3T speaker, why is there not a video demo of this thing with an electric guitarist playing the pod hd500 through it? (Unless I am missing it) There is only one video on you tube with some guys playing in a band but it would be nice to hear it in a demo situation with different tones being played through it. That is all I would need to make my decision on whether to by the L3T vs a DT amp.

The L3t is a PA speaker, but it has several clever modes. There's a PA FRFR mode (for general PA at gigs), a playback mode for playing recorded CDs (for DJing), but there's other modes. One of the other modes is a guitar cab, and this mostly turns off the tweeter in the L3t so that it acts more like a guitar cab, and I'm sure Line 6 will have been able to emulate how a guitar cab sounds, and also as the L3t and HD500 firmware includes recognising that both those products are connected, so I think it will work very well.

I guess though it does depend on what you're looking to achieve. For me having a pair of DT25's would be awesome for some stereo goodness, and that's a good alternative to an l3t. Not that the L3t isn't great too, but it will cost more than the DT25, because it has more features. But if you don't need the extras, a pair of DT25's would be killer for guitar tone and stereo goodness!

Ok, so I recently posted a thread on a question about running my newer Pod HD500 through a tech 21 power engine, but I am now focusing on purchasing either a DT25/50 or running the Pod into a L3T speaker. I have read some threads on the L3T, but I guess what I want to really know (hopefully from someone who owns a L3T specifically running a Pod into it), is the color of the sound you get through a L3T speaker. I know it is a FRFR setup, but how much tonal difference is it from running a Pod through the DT amps? If I am going to drop that kind of money on one of these pieces of equipment, I want to be really happy with it. I was really impressed with a you tube video on the DT25 titled "The Andertons Dream Rig" from a year ago. The DT25 amp sounds amazing. However, to have the capability of running the pod through the L3T as well as an acoustic/and or vocal mic seems attracting to me as well as long as the tone of my guitar isn't compromised in a big way. The reason I say that, is because I am still not fully impressed with how my pod hd500 sounds through the Tech 21 PE. It's ok, but have to admit coming from a real class "A" tube amp with analog pedals, the tone difference has been pretty substantial to my ear. If I can get a great sound through an L3T speaker, and bypass having to have a tube(or Hybrid) amp, I would like that because of its flexability with other instruments. So long story short, if anyone owns the L3T and Pod HD500 combo, I would love to hear your thoughts on the tone of your guitar sound and if you are truly happy with it because that would be my primary concern before going the DT amp route.

I have all knobs at 12 o'clock to try and get the most uncolored sound from the tech 21. I am going to mess with some of my own patches this weekend to see if that changes things. I hope it does. I guess my ear is so used to my other class "A" amp amd analog pedals, it may take some adjusting to.

Tech 21 & POD HD 500 Question

I just got a used POD HD500 and have a Tech 21 PE. Granted, I just got the pod hd500 and have not even made my own pacthes yet, but as of now, I am not impressed with the Tech 21. Question is, should all the 3 EQ settings on the back of the Tech 21 be at 12 o'clock for a flat response? The tech 21 cabinet just sounds a little weak. I can tell it has enough volume, but seems to lack some thickness in overall sound. Sounds a little tinny to me. If anyone who owns this setup, I would appreciate any tips to making this setup sound really good because it seems a lot of people are happy with this combo. I also wasn't sure if using FRFR speakers would be better or not compared to tech 21. Any info is appreciated, thanks.

Setting up dry signal w/PODX3 live

Can someone please help me with setting up the PODX3 live to record a true dry signal while monitoring a wet signal via USB only, no other interface. I have read the maual and frankly am a little confused. I am going to be using Sonar HSXL7 and want to re-amp the dry signal using the POD farm VST plug-in. From what it seems you would use output channel 7 or 8 for a dry signal? Is that correct? How do you monitor the wet signal through the POD? Any help would be appreciated. I have read a lot of the discussions but have not stumbled on one that has actual settings listed.

Ok, so I have been away from playing and recording for a few yeas due to having kids. I come back and see this POD farm plug in. I own a POD X3live and am a little confused on what to use for recording a dry signal into Sonar HSXL7 with my X3 and re-amping it later. Is that where POD farm comes in? I assume I get that update for free since I own PODX3live correct? Also, can gearbox do the same thing? I am going to be collaborating with a buddy long distance and need to update my knowledge for recording purposes. Does my friend need podfarm or gearbox as well to hear my effects on my guitar track that I will send him? I know there are several questions there, so any info is appreciated..
