Try the ports on the back of your computer (assuming that your computer is a desktop). Sometimes the front ports are actualy connected by an internal hub.

Try different USB lead.

Best of luck

Cheers

John

Re: Pod x3 Live installation troubles

First thing you need to do is to go to the download section at the top of this page and select your operating system and then download "Line 6 Monkey". This should allow you to download all of the other drivers etc.

Probably the most important thing you need to download is "gearbox" as this will allow you to edit tones on your computer (and - incidentally - to access other users tones through "customtone" which can also be accessed at the top of this page. When you install gearbox it will also give you the opportunity to install the driver.

I don't want to worry you, as there are ways round this, but the only slight problem you might have is if the pervious owner registered the X3 L on the Line 6 web site. If they did then you should get them, if you know them, to unregister the hardware. You will then be able to register the X3l. If you have trouble then a message to line 6 support by opening a support ticket (go to support - again, you guessed it, found at the top of this page ;-) ) they should be able to sort you out. Registering you x3L makes the process of updating the firmware on your X3L much easier.

Very best of luck. If you continue to have problems, just come back and ask another question.

Re: Is the USB driver useless?

I am sorry if my answer disappoints but the problem is not with the Line 6 software specifically but with the nature of ASIO drivers. The ASIO system only allows you to have one device active at a time - you will find this with all ASIO devices - if you look at "competitors" devices which you absolutely should to make sure you have covered all options you will find that those that use ASIO (which will be a high proportion of them) will have the same issue. As I said it is a limitation of ASIO. So why use ASIO you might ask? Ultra low latency that's why.

Like most things in life there is usually a pay off.....

If I sound unsympathetic I really don't mean to I understand your frustration. I just think that it is wrong - in this instance - to direct your anger at Line 6.

I wish you luck in your search for the ideal equipment for you. And yes you are right, if lots of inputs whilst maintaining the ability to edit patches live through software such as Gearbox or Pod Farm is your top priority, then perhaps The X3L isn't the right bit of kit for you.

Just make sure that the service center have confirmed in advance that they have the part in and that they are aware of the tech bulletin.

In addition the amps and effects are different. The current range of Pod HD technology cannot use tones from any of the earlier equipment. For example the XT, X3 & guitarport etc.

I understand your frustration but to be honest if Line 6 had maintained backwards compatibility the development of new hardware would effectivly have been halted.
