Banging sound on some notes . .

Hi all!

I have a 300 and a 500 and i am in general pretty happy with both. Sometimes i have the effect that on different notes i get a louder banging sound, almost like the piezo is resonating in the saddle. While playing clean or acoustic sounds it's more obvious. Different notes on differnt strings . .

Is this effect known? Can i fix this by letting some superglue sink into the saddle? If i change to ghost saddles, will it be gone?

For the first steps i would recommend using your computer and the HD-Edit program. Makes editing easy, as you can see the whole rig on the screen. The small display is ok, if you already know what to do . . ;-) . . otherwise its a pita!

First you have to setup your POD HD to what environment you use . . see "output options", user manual page 18.

Then start with a "new tone" thats blank . . choose an amp model . . tweak it . . add some effects . . andsoon . .

Yes, i build my sounds (almost) from scratch using the complete amp/cab simulations. At home i practice over a Behringer console, small power amp and a pair of JBL Control One speakers. Our stage setup is a Dynacord (german) power mixer, two 12/3 speaker system plus an active subwoofer. Our so called monitor system is a small active monitor: http://www.thomann.de/gb/the_box_ma205_aktivmonitor.htm

As we are only a two piece band we just route a mono mix of the FOH signal to the monitor.

I actually would like to have is a programmable global EQ section in the output of the HD to adapt to different sound systems, but i get around.

Yup . . you can mike your existing setup, or change the HD globally to the "studio" setting and use a FSFR monitor on stage. That's how i do it on stage and i'm very stisfied with it.

Far out of my range of "usable" gain settings . . so my comment will not help you anyway. Good playing and recording quality though.

It's all in the Pilot-Guide . . ;-)

If your HD500 is in "Preset Mode", where FS4-8 switch between patches A to D, just press "View" until you're in the Live window. This shows which effects are assigned to FS1-4 and which sounds are assigned to FS4-8.

The POD 2.0 has a Battery. Your settings are NOT stored in the Eprom but in an area that loses its information when the battery is dead . . so . . new battery and you should be fine.

That's a pretty easy thing to do . . you have to hook up the HD 500 via a midi interface to your computer. Then you record a midi track, while switching the patches on the HD at the right places. When playing back the track and recording the guitar sound the patches will be switched according to your previously recorded midi track. ASFAIK the midi signals are NOT recorded via USB, you have to get yourself a midi interface.
