Spider IV 150 Combo - Re-boots / Volume drops and then comes back up

I have had my 150 for several months and have probably played it 20 hours or less inside my house. Every few times that I use it, the amp will reset all by it self. Today, the volume dropped down very low and would not change by increasing the volum knob. I turned off the amp and back on and the volume was back but very loud since I had adjusted it prior to turning it off. No too happy considering I paid $499 for this amp and have barely used it.

John

My power switch was causing mine to shutdown or not turn on. I sprayed contact cleaner / lubricant in it (around the sides of toggle) and it solved the problem. I assume that the contacts were not making good contact causing higher resistance.

This is typical for contacts to do this, some more than others.

John

Mine was doing the same thing and now is perfect... Use a cleaner with lubricant. Good for guitar pots as well.

Re: RE: Powert shuts off on my X3Live

Spray some "plastic safe" contact cleaner/lubricant into the switch. It took care of my problem instantly. My switch was failing about 1 out of 3 times. The pedal would buzz and the lights were dim with no LCD. That is what made me think that the contacts were dirty and causing a high resistance. My background is electrical engineering and used to repair electronics down to the component level, so I have experience with these types of failures. I would doubt that a firmware issue would cause a failure like this..

John
