I think I will start with setting the HD500 output to COMBO POWER AMP; use the 1/4" output with the switch set to AMP; and use the XLR out on the PE60 to go to the sound board.

Thanks for the help! Do you set the 1/4" OUT setting to line or amp? I assume the AMP setting since the PE60 is probably not a "device with -10dBV inputs typical of mixers and recorders." (to quote the manual).

I just bought a Tech 21 Power Engine 60 (PE60) to use with my HD500. I have two questions:

What output option should I use when going into the PE60? I assume combo power amp setting.
Is it better to use the XLR or 1/4 inch output from the HD500 to the PE60? The PE60 has both input jacks.

I also have questions regarding live set up using a PA system. I have two thoughts on how to do this:

POD HD500 > Tech 21 PE60 > Sound board: The PE60 has a line out that I can send to the sound board (or daisy chain with another PE60). Therefore, I can have one out from my HD500 into the PE60 and then another XLR out to the sound board, OR;
POD HD500 > Tech 21 PE60 via 1/4 inch to use PE60 as a monitor on stage. ALSO: POD HD500 > Sound board via XLR out on HD500 for playing through PA.

Any thoughts on the better method for playing live and settings for each?

PS - I did a search and found a lot of discussions on the HD500 and PE60. I'm in the process of going through them. Lots of info regarding the first 2 questions above, but have not come across any comments on the live set up questions, yet.

I am a guitar player and POD HD500 user. I hope that the screen on the new mixer is a foreshadowing of things to come on the next generation POD!

Thanks for the input on my other post. I decided to cancel the Mobile In before it shipped. I ordered the Apogee Jam which also connects via the 30 pin connector and has great online reviews. I plan to use it with Garage Band which recently became available for iPhones.

Based on comments on this site and in the App Store, I decided to cancel my order for the Mobile In and order the Apogee Jam. I plan to use the Jam with Garage Band that recently became available as an app for iphones. That said . . . I am a huge fan of Line 6 products and currently use the Pod HD500.

30 pin extender needed when using Mobile In?

I am looking forward to getting my Mobile In device that I ordered yesterday.

Two questions:

1. Will I need a 30 pin extender/adapter in order to plug in the device if my iphone is in a case?

2. Will using an extender cause any problems (ie: latency) with using the program/device?

It looks from photos and videos that there is no space between the top of the Mobile In and the ipad/iphone when the device is plugged in. Therefore, one will need to either use a 30 pin extender/adapter OR remove the iphone from the case when wanting to use the Mobile In device.

I have a Fishman Loudbox Performer acoustic amp. The features and specs are here:

I was curious if it would be better to use my HD500 through something like a Mackie Thumb 12A or 15A. Specs for the Thump are here:

One thing I like about the Fishman is that it has 2 channels . . . one for a mic and one for the pod. That way I can use one amp when I play/sing. If I get a mackie thump, I can buy a small mixer to put in front of the speaker.

Any thoughts? Thanks for the help!
