I don't know if your're still interested, but if you choose this method, you can check if the pedal positions are o.k. But this doc has nothing to do with the toe switch.

Hi adisharf,

Your question might become very complex, so let us reduce to see if your toe switch (you call it wah pedal) is working. The toe switch is only there either to switch between EXP1 (red LED) and EXP2 (green LED) mode, or to switch your fx on/off. It has nothing to do with the pedal position itself.

Answer:

Your "place where you link it" is when you select your fx with the round arrow button, and then hold down the ENTER button for a while. It's headline is called "FS ASSIGN: <selected fx name>".

This page is there to enable/disable the selected fx. Please press FS1, and it will be displayed as (1):FS1.

To ckeck if your toe switch is o.k., put your weight on the top of the "wah/expression pedal", not suddenly, just to set your kilos down. If the display is changing to (1):EXP TOE SWITCH, everything is fine.

1. You must assure you have your boxes or phones directly connected with the POD HD500, not with the soundblaster card, the notebook buildt-in boxes or so (deactivated or mute them).

2. You must have the POD HD500 ASIO driver installed and the POD HD500 connected over USB.

3. In Cubase you must select the HD500 as you AUDIO device for input/output. Choose the HD500 ASIO driver.

4. Click on the advanced options of the HD500 ASIO driver. You can also select START>All Programs>Line6>Tools>Line6 Audio-Midi Devices.

4a) On driver page you must select the suited "default buffer size", "default bit depth" as ASIO settings. Depending on your PC speed use as small value as possible. Sometimes it makes sense to change the value from time to time. If you play back all your tracks you might need a bufer of 256 or 512, whereas while recording your guitar with just a view tracks, maybe 128 can work. The reason to to this is to reach the lowest lateny time, the delay between playing and hearing.

4b) Change to the" Input&Recording" page of the driver. Here are two sliders. For listening only the effected monitoring sound of your DAW (Cubase) while playing, the slider must be set to minimum (left side = off). The slider "Record Send Level" and the +18db box let you control the recording input level.

5) Now set the desired tracks active, and use only the monitoring button of Cubase to control the tracks you listen to.

I'm a HD500 owner. But have you done the factory reset after firmware update? It might also reset your Output Mode. Check it.

No very preciousgeorge, I have already checked this. It works neither with global, nor with preset. It's a bug.

I'd say the string cannot vibrate freely. Check this:

- Are the strings clean and new enough?

- Is the e-string set high enough? Set the e-string higher and test it.

- Do the frets have a clean shape? When the frets are worn the strings lie deeper and touch other frets. Then the frets have to be repaired and brought to the same level. Check if it always happen at the same fret.

You are right. It could be done easily. You already have this with the amp knobs, e.g. with the drive knob.

Lets suppose the saved patch has got a drive value of e.g. 20%. Now turn the drive to maximum = 100%, and the drive will change temporarily to 100%.

After recalling the patch, the drive value has been reset again to 20%, although the hardware drive knob still shows 100%.

The moment you turn the drive knob again it will change again to its current position temporarily.

My opinion is, some would prefer this behavior, others would like how it is now.

There is a solution, to ask for this behavior on the SETUP page.

When turning on the pedal, the value immediately reads its position and changes to its value. There is no sleeping.

There are two possibilities to have it at value zero after effect activation, but first there is to say that when the effect (e. g. pitch ) is deactivated it won't pitch.

- If you turn on / activate the effect with the toe switch, the maximum value must be set to 0 and the minimum for pitch change (e.g. pitch = +3).

- You can have your minimum at 0 and maximum at pitch change (e.g. +3), but before activating the pedal you must be sure to have the pedal at 0 position (position up), and of course the trigger here must be one of FS1-FS8.
