Yes I did try and superglue the piece back in, except I used a high strength 5 minute epoxy for plastics. It worked for about a month, but unfortunately it fell out again and it fell out "somewhere" So it was gone.

I pulled the unit apart again, and tried to find out where the pins went on the circuit board itself. It goes to a little chipset not far from the pins, and it DOES NOT use pin 1. That would be the 5V output, because the unit is self powered it does not need it. Well I metered out those connections and I was not getting any continuity. So I pulled out the connector again and checked the pin hole for continuity to the chipset. To my luck there was none, so it appears as when I pulled it off the first time I must have got it a little too hot and when I removed the solder the connection to the circuit board was lost. I had another decision to make, do I leave it and have an experianced person try to make that connection, or do I just do it myself? Well I tried, I tried scraping some of the board away on the back side so I could actually solder the connection. Yup no go, it seems as if by doing that I have now grounded out both pins. So it appears as if I have now really screwed it up...

I have opened a ticket with Line 6, I don't know how much they are going to be able to do...I am hoping that they could sell me just the upper board (biggest ugh) for like a half price deal or something. I don't expect them to replace it under warranty anymore, but I hope that I don't have to purchace a whole new pedal. If I can get my hands on a new board its easy to put in...

So a note to anyone who are going to try and replace it...Use a small soldering gun, and be very careful on how hot you get it. It seems as if the pin hole rings are VERY thin and much easily broken

It just means I have to put all my tones in manually, and I won't be able to playback through my headphones from my computer...

I just know now its going to cost me, which really sucks, and if I have any other issue I don't think its going to be covered. I am going to open it up again tonight and see if I can meter out the pins on the connector and find where they run to on the board. See if there is continuity between them. It could be that upon removal of the connector I got it too hot that it burned away some of the contact the solder connects to.

I would not think there is a difference in the actual connector. They are all the same pins, and pinout. I thought it was just faster processing rates within the chipset itself. The connector I replaced it with was identical to that of the pedal. However the printer is like a 2003-2004 so either way it would have been adapted to usb 2 anyways. USB 2 came out in 2000.

I guess there has to be a guinea pig in every situation!

POD HD500-Might have myself in a little trouble....

So first off I will say that I love my 500, It will be something that I will never fully use...but love all the options.

I seem to have myself in a little predicament, and I am not sure any of you could be any help to me, but I thought I would try. I have been reading up on the MANY usb connectors, and how they have been breaking the little block out of the middle. My POD has done just that. Now I live in Alberta Canada, and judging by line 6s website there are only 2 certified dealers in all of Alberta. I inquired to both of them about getting it fixed, and they both shoved me off saying its not under warranty. Its something that would break because you were too hard on the cable. Having said that I also inquired to them about getting it fixed. They told me it was going to be around 200 bucks plus shipping, and also that it would be gone around 4-6 weeks with no loner. Well I can't have my pedal gone for that long so I opted out of that option.

This is where the fun begins...I am an electrician and I have lots of experiance soldering, I understood the risks of replacing that part myself and how I would for sure void the warranty. However I was not going to pay to have someone send it away and re-solder 6 pins, especially almost 250 bucks!. So I pulled the unit apart, grabbed a 90 degree connector from one of my old printers. Pulled the old one off, using proper methods. Flux and solder sucker. Plucked the new one in there, re-soldered all the joints on the back of the board. Gave it a try, and no-go. It does not work, and I am not sure why. I am pretty sure all my joints are good, the drivers on my computer are good, and the cable is good. The computer does not pick up the pedal even under the device manager. The only thing I could think of is that possibly the new soldered connection is not making a connection on the other side not allowing a connection to the board in itself.

I am just wondering if anyone could tell me the pinout, and where the pins are supposed to go. From what I can see, when I flip the board over it only uses two pins, and of course the ground. Which makes somewhat sense because this USB connection would not require the 5V output to the device, just the communication?

I feel really bad about doing it, but unfortunately I made that choice. I have re-soldered many products, and they work great afterwords. To my luck this one does not...

Any advice is appreciated in advance...Thanks!

I have an HD 500, I am getting close to finding the tone but something is still off. I am looking for tones for Thousand Foot Krutch (mostly their new album) and Bluetree (if anyone has ever even heard of them!) Does anyone have any information as to what they use for effects? Or even a tone file thats reasonably close!

Also do any of you experiance any tone differences between running off the headphones to connecting to a sound board? I find that the sound has a much more full tone in the headphones as compared to running directly into a sound system?
