in ableton go in to preferences and manually select the ux2 as ur input device. that should let you record

does the laptop have the RAM and specs to run everything cause the poppint is definately a sign that your latency is screwed up.

in ableton i had a similar problem until i changed the audio driver. if you go in to options>preferences>audio tab make sure the first two boxes have ASIO and ASIO UX2 selected. this is the best quality setting according to the ableton tutorial. Other than that maybe you have a bad usb or other connection.

what program are you recording with and also do you hear any popping if you run pod farm by itself?

just bought a ux2 and got it up and running like a charm but i thought this thing was supposed to have presets. so far i have to creat my own rig . any ideas why they arent there or maybe they arent supposed to be.

i know if you look on the box or im sure its somewhere on this site it require you to have a certain service pack for windows. being that you reinstalled the xp maybe its the original pack. i would check in to it
