My son and I played it through a Fender Frantman 25, a Fender Champion 600, and a VOX AC4TV and it sounds alright. It won't sound as good as actual pedals, even after changing the output setting on the POD itself. I find that you need to tweek the channels a great deal when you go from using it as a recording device to a live device. People will argue with me but it's my personal experience. In general the cleaner tones sound quite nice with the amps but when a lot of effects get thrown in (excessive amounts of anything to overdriven or distorted) it sounds like the amp is inside a trash can. However, I think the XT is still a great recording device. I hope I was helpful.

Buy the one used for the POD 2.0 that is made by LIne 6. They are the same. I purchased one in August and it works and feels perfect.

Plug the XT into your PC from the USB port of POD (the printer jack end) and plug the other into USB port of desktop. Make sure Monkey is installed. Line 6 edit should work fine afterwards. Make sure the XT is switched on before openning LIne 6 edit. Then with Line 6 edit you can find and edit all your new tones and then use the save button on the xt itself into whichever bank you have chosen.

I think you will be happier moving to the XT, either PRO or XT because I have the POD 2.0 and it is nice but the added banks and effects of the XT add a lot for recording.

My son owns the POD 2.0 and when we connected it to the PC we ised a cable with two quarter inch jacks on one side and a one eighth on the other end. We plugged into the mic jack on the desktop and recorded with Audacity. Here is a sample of the results.

I use the POD XT and I connect it using the printer cable from the USB jack of the POD to the u¡SB port on the desktop. I record using Reaper and here is a sample.

I plug the pod xt to a USB port on my desktop using a cabel that is the same you would use on a printer. The sound of the recording is good and I use Reaper as the editing software. I have a sample if you want to hear it.
