Can't be done as it stands now. You could do that relatively easily with a small MIDI controller like the Tech 21 MIDI Mouse, though.

The effects on the HD500 and the M13 are the same, so this list is accurate for the HD500, too.

There are few things the HD500 has that the M13 doesn't effect-wise. The Hard Gate, Vocoder, and the Vintage Mic Preamp aren't on the M13.

It should work. Could you have accidentally used the M9's right input instead of the left? The tuner only works for signals coming into the left input.

I no longer have an M5, but I believe if you tap both buttons, it takes you into the preset, and then you can turn the effect off. The other thing you can do is make a preset with the effect turned off when you save it. So you can create a bypass preset. Although, in Instant Preset mode, this might not be too helpful because as soon as you scroll to a new preset it loads.

Regarding the firmware, there's not been any update past the original release.

That's right, I was getting confused as to the exact model. But in any case, there's not really a standard Tele model on the Variax with a regular single coil in the neck.

The other Tele neck is essentially a single coil with the tone control all the way down.

One thing about the Variax modeling is that because it's relying on the piezo pickups, you start to notice when strings are older more quickly on the Variax than with a standard electric. Other than that, I haven't really noticed that the modeled guitars sound darker in general to me. I do see what you mean in your video, though. On one model, the telecaster, there is one difference on the Variax than in real life. The Tele modeled on the Variax is a 72 custom with humbucker in the neck. On the next position, that is single coil with the tone knob all the way down. So there's no true single coil neck sound on the Variax, at least not in the stock settings.

The rackmount version of the KPA is more than the dentist office version. It's close to $2,000. I'm not saying that Line 6 should just ignore them, but I don't know if amp profiling like that is going to be where mass market modeling is heading or not. I have heard good things about the KPA, though.

The thing Line 6 has going for it against a company like Fractal or Kemper is that they make products that are within the price range of beginners and intermediate players. If you think about that is where the majority of the guitar market is always going to be.

I don't know the exact reason, but Line 6 has pretty much standardized on the current switch design for all their floor-based products now. I don't see them going back to that one anytime.

That's just how the looper works. It's sums the stereo signal going into it, and the output is dual mono. You lose stereo separation. When you have it pre, it's not really an issue because the separation still happens after the looper block. Once in post, it can be noticeable.

I think a Tele style body would be cool, too. I think one thing that influenced Line 6 in choosing the body shapes was James Tyler's existing designs. The JTV are all very close to the designs that Tyler sells. He does have one that is Tele-like - http://www.tylerguitars.com/p-41-mongoose-retro.aspx

I just think Line 6 chose the Strat body type over the Tele because it's still the most iconic Fender design. Even people who know almost nothing about guitars can identify a Strat.
