Finally got my HD500. I'm in love!

I just received my new HD500 today. I have a HD400 that I had become too frustrated by the limitations so I decided to upgrade. Man, I only wish I had done so sooner. There are so many more options in programming this thing it's unbelievable. After a few minutes I had the button uses figured out I was on my way to new patches. It's really not too complicated to navigate. I simply love the way this unit works. I mounted it into a Rondo pedalboard so it's good to go. That's all. Just wanted to tell someone about my new toy.

So good ol' GC still hadn't gotten my HD500 at the store as of today so they went and ordered me one to have shipped to my house for the same price. They waited until today to tell me their "in transit" for their shipment could be as much as a month. So now I just need to wait another 3-5 days my shipment to arrive at my door.

Just curious if anyone else has tried their HD into a bass amp with a guitar.

I have a Traynor tube amp I usually use with my HD400 but it's been at my practice space for a while. I have a Carvin BX500 head and Neo10.2 cab at home so I figured I'd just use that at home for practice. I'll have to say it actually sounds pretty awesome. I have the Hd400 running straight into the front of the head, no effects loop or anything. The BX500 has plenty of EQ to tweak it on the front end. I'm thinking of bringing to practice one day and trying it out in a band situation. I know it's plenty loud to keep up. Just wondering if anyone else has tried this. I've been using it for a few months now and have grown to love the tone I'm getting.

Thanks for the great post! The step-by-step detail is great, along with the side diagram. I just got one of these cases (the black version) and should be picking up my new HD500 tomorrow. I'm hoping to be able to drill the case holes without removing the back of the unit for a template. I don't want to run into any warranty void issues should the need arise.

That would be just my luck! At least I'll have a few months to play with the HD500 before time to upgrade again. :) GC didn't get the HD500 in Friday so now I have to wait until Tuesday (or Friday) to get it. I know it's going to be worth the wait.

Just an update for anyone following this thread. I should be picking up my new HD500 tomorrow from GC (as long as the truck arrives). I got it for $400. I also ordered one of the Rondo CBN pedal cases to put it in. I can't wait to get this baby home and started playing with it.

Thanks for all of your replies. I'm pretty sure I'm going to take the plunge and get the HD500 soon. I've been watching some YouTube videos and the extra features of the HD500 seem amazing. I'm looking forward to many more editing possibilities. Being able to set various parameters to the expression pedal is a huge benefit. Am I correct in understanding that you can assign multiple effects to one switch so you can turn on/off more than one at a time with a single button?

Question for current HD500 owners, how often do you use two amps at the same time? Is this mostly for running in stereo or are there other uses? I had a X3 prior to this bit never used that feature too much.

Opinions on upgrading from HD400 to HD500

Hi all. So I've had my HD400 for almost two years now and I love the tones I get out of it but I am constantly thinking I should trade up to the Hd500. The extra effects spots are the big selling point for me. I constantly feel restricted by the effect slots in the HD400. Can I get some opinions on whether or not an upgrade would be worth it? Or do I bide my time and wait for the next Line 6 product which I'm sure is in the works?

Thanks for the tip! You can get some very good Auto Wah sounds with the Tron Up. Unfortunately for me the Tron Up is a Stomp model so there goes using it with other stomps in my HD400. Great tip, though.

Hey everyone. I don't know if I'm missing something or it just doesn't exist but is there an Auto Wah anywhere to be found in the HD series? I have a HD400 and can't seem to find it. I checked the Line 6 site for the HD500 but don't see one listed there either. Was this an effect that got left out? I always enjoyed messing around with the Auto Wah on previous PODs.
