Just ordered a DT25! Need help with:

Hey guys

I got into line 6 stuff when looking for a new multifx processor... I always used Boss's GT something, but I was blown away by the POD HD family an got an HD500 a year and a half ago! I loved it, but after that I just could not be without a variax, and so I bought a JTV-59 just after the pod, and fed my voice and guitar thru the pod to a Bose L1 compact. This "rig" made me happy, considering my needs and means since then, but things have "evolved", I no longer connect my mic to the pod, and I want/need a better guitar tone, so I kept my money on L6 and just ordered a DT25 combo so I can get that nice warm valve sound, retaining all the flexability L6 has gotten me used to, BUT, here are my questions/doubts:

1 - I understand the amp will reconfigure itself to whatever the pod tells it to (via L6 link), but what happens when I select a preset which has 2 amps?!? How will I replicate that preset sound using only 1 DT25!?

2 - I often use the acoustic sounds on my variax. What's the best way to route that sound to a PA and stop it from going to the amp!?

3 - Can I update the firmware on the amp thru my POD HD using L6 link? I'd save me getting MIDI cables

4 - I've read about (valve?) realiability issues...is it really worse than most amps out there?

5 - I've never owned a valve amp before, and I'm not educated at all on how it works. Just tell me the basics please, like, "you gotta have the master knob at least in ____ so the valves will work properly..."! Basic and not so basic stuff you can remember, please

Thanks a lot guys!

I Just can't understand how the new acoustics are better...I mean, If I plug my JTV directly to a PA, HD500, or whatever with firmware 1,71, it sounds good and realistic without a single tweek, and then if you need/want to EQ it, add reverb, comp, etc, you just add it yourself. With the new acoustics it seems you need to dial in a bunch of EQ's and effects just to get it to sound acceptable/normal...

I'm not saying this is a fact, I know a lot of people out there adore the new acoustics, but unfortunately that's not my case, and I'm really sad about it. I've reflashed my JTV back and forth a bunch of times in hope I can manage to get it right, but haven't so far...

Sorry for the off-topic post...

Lets hope the new update comes soon and makes a good diference for the better for everyone, or most people!

I use my own made presets and I even use it as my mic effects processor (compressor, reverb...)

I tend to create presets in which I use the EXP pedal a lot to control drive, delay, and other...

Anyway, I need help to create, if possible, a preset in wich I'll play a chord rapidly followed by a riff, BUT the chord sound MUST last while playing the riff...all within the same preset. My Idea was to play the chord with a lot of delay, then flick the EXP pedal the other way and let the riff be heard. Trouble is I end up either killing the chord or having tons of unwanted delay on the riff

Am I explaining things clearly? Can you help? is it possible?

THANK YOU!!!!

Lets say I go to drop D...instead of having DADGBE, I get EGDGBE, and if I try to correct it by holding the model knob and then getting it to DADGBE using the 12th fret as the "0" fret like i've done tons of times before, all strings get super grazy tunnings!!!

I'm re-installing the firmware tomorrow and hope this will cure the tunnings problem, so I can then work on new patches for the acoustics...If this doesn't resolve it, I'm sticking to 1.71 FOREVER!!!!

EDIT: Just connected the JTV to my HD500 today so I could reflash it, and guess what...tunnings are working normaly again, with all the models and patches...WTF!?!?!?

Not feelling too comfortable on the 1.81 reliability/stability...

I play my korean JTV-59 thru my POD HD500, and that goes to a BOSE L1 Compact.

The acoustics until 1.71 were just fine, very usable in any situation, once I updated to 1.81, I hated the new models as soon as the guitar finished the updates (using headphones at the time)

I rolled back to 1.71, like I said, but after reading again all these posts and christian's video, I decided to update again to 1.81 to see if I could get the acoustics to work with some more tweaking.

I tried EVERY acoustic patch on customtone, and tweaked further the ones I thought were best. I could only manage the gibson to sound good, but still there was still a "roomyness" about it which I didn't like, and that ruined the sound when strummin...so I could only imagine it would also suck live like on the 1st time I updated it and took it on stage for a soundcheck.

So...I did this crappy video so you guys can hear the sound of the new VS old models. They're all recorded straight out of the guitar, with NO effects at all, volume and tone knob at 100%. Let me know if these are the sounds I should be getting or if there's some kind of problem with that rommynes...If this is the real thing, I'm much happier with the old ones. Only the Gibson (1.81) kinda made me happy after some tweaking, all the other NOT AT ALL!!! I rolled back again...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sq0VlzvKjHU

Check out the video/sound of the new models vs the old and let me know what you think...nevermind the playin'

P.S. The new gibson had to be tweaked quite a bit and have the tone knob all the way down for me to like it, but still not 100% for me...that roomyness just kills it for me!
