It all does depend on how you use the HD Pro but for the way many of us MIDI users need our effects units to function the HD is still not an option. I will continue to use my M9 in front of the amp and the G-Major 2 in my loop.

Has this ever been resolved? I ended up using a TC Electronics G-Major 2 in lieu of the POD HD Pro but would gladly switch back at any time if this were fixed. This plus the delay trails continuing between Program Changes.

jimsreynolds summed up my problem brilliantly.

"I am going to restate here what you found cause it will affect a number of people and I wanted to make clear what the problem you had was - when people come looking.

The issue in your case was that you wanted to be able to to retain reverb and delay trails when changing effects. Patch changes (via Midi or otherwise) normally cause delays to be cut off hard.

However, you noted that Reverb and delay trails are preserved when you stay within an HD patch but instead toggle the specific effects off. Your workaround would have been to stay within an HD patch and instead send a set of MIDI cc's from your Midi footpedal to force a group of effects to be flipped on or off. This would have achieved your aims.

Unfortunately the HD MIDI implementation does not appear to follow convention. Typically a cc value of 0-63 means 'off' and 64-127 means 'on'. However any value (0-127) sent to the HD simply flips an effect to its opposite state (on or off). Therefore it is impossible to predict and automate the required HD effect state using MIDI commands, within an HD Patch."

until Line 6 changes the CC messages my problem is not fixable. we will see with the next update.

Used her tonight for the forst time live. Unfortunately a few program changes did not save the way I had hoped and delays did not trail but I muddled thru the show.

Feature request sent. Thanks again Jim for all the help on the original 4CM setup. It was spot on. I will be able to make this work in the short term with hopes that a new update will make this happen. Even Voodoo Labs was shocked that these kind of CCs were not there.

I'm not 100% sure but I'm pretty sure the MIDI works the same in the GCP as in the Liquid Audio. The problem is in the POD HD Pro. They need to change the CC #s data values to be 0-63 - effect "on" and 64-127 - effect "off". The way it is set up you can only toggle back and forth between on and off. So say you have one Preset that uses your amp's clean channel and a delay and another Preset that uses your amps dirty channel with the same delay. Since the delay option is set to "on" for both Presets it should stay on for both but the way the POD HD Pro is set up it will toggle it off and on. Even if you just hit the first Preset button over and over the delay will toggle on and off because of the way the CC #s are set up. A very huge oversight.

It does look as if I'm SOL. I sent the MIDI Chart to Voodoo Lab.

From Voodoo Lab:

"I have seen that chart and still can't believe that the unit functions in this manner... even though after your previous post I see that the chart says exactly that... it toggles on any data value. This is so completely uncommon.

Un-like a Program Change message, a Control Change message has a data value associated with it. The data value ranges from 0-127. This is what allows a Control Change message to be used for expression control, literally counting each step between 0-127. For effect block bypass, processors usually respond to two data ranges with 0-63 being the Bypass state and 64=127 being the Active state.

The Data value is hard coded on the Ground Control Pro... an Instant Access button sends a Data Value of 127 when the LED is turned on and a Data Value of 0 when the LED is turned off.

The problem here is not that you need to be able to program this functionality, its that the POD HD Pro simply flops the state of the effect whenever there is any data activity on the assigned Control Change number. There is no way around this problem with the unique way the POD HD Pro is responding to Control Change messages."

This is such a drag. Thanks to everyone for the help. Guess I will have to hope this is changed in the next update.
