DO NOT USE L6 MONKEY with the FLEX SERIES AMPS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It will Bork your F3.

DO NOT attempt to upgrade the firmware with it - it may or may not work, and may say it completed OK, but did not.

DO NOT do backups, they cannot be restored by any software L6 has. IOW - they are useless!

USE L6 EDIT or Tweakwiz instead of Monkey!

I have warned you again!

Other than opening it up and checking that all the cables are connected - your only option is to send it back to the "Service Center" or get a friend to open it up for you.

Depends what you are trying to do...If you are running out of GNX4 to the input of the Flex then, yeah Im not surprised.

What is you objective ?

Do you want to use the pre-amp on the GNX4 or the Flex3?? Or use the Flex as a power amp ?

If the latter,plug the GNX4 outs into the Flex EFFECTS RETUN'S and stick a dummy jack in the Flex input.

There are lots of other optiosn like the 4CM (google it) or 2CM (google it too).

Need to know what you are trying to do!@

Given that 3 of the 4 products are "Legacy" products, I'm not sure what you should expect now.

There hasn't been a Lin6 Edit update in 3 yrs now...

and the support staff keeps telling people to use GearBox with the Flex series, which is jsut plain ludicrous and will BORK anything you do with it!!

Install the old Java 5 JRE and then install Edit nad it should work fine.

Sure....

but.. you need to have something going into the Flex to generate the effects signal - like a guitar or other signal.

Notice you are posting in a "discontinued products" forum.

I ran just fine with M-Audio UNO, using L6Edit 2.11 and JBuster, once Java 6 came out.

Prior to that, UNO and L6Edit worked fine for 3 yrs.

Some [obvious] questions....

Which USB midi device are you using ?

Got current drivers from vendor web site?

Which version of Edit are you using ? 3.02?

How do you know it's not sending midi to the Flex?

and...

Have you checked that your midi cables are hooked up to the Flex correctly?

This is an old common problem. Java 1.5 is required to run the editor. It will not run under Java 1.6 directly.

You will need to install 1.5 (Java 5) manually from tjhe Sun website as the Editor tries to install it, but it has been moved from the location in which the editor is looking for it. Installing 1.5 will not impact 1.6 as your primary Java version.

Once 1.5 is installed - re-install the Editor and it might work. If not, you will need JBuster (search forum or google it) and you should be all set.

The most recent version has a couple of known bugs in it.. most common are the inaccurate compressor and the cab mic positions that are off by 1.
