L6 Link works, and so do the HD500 analog outputs into the rear panel line inputs on the L3t. I have tried/used both. I found a significant volume difference; the L6 Link seemed much louder though I confess I did not spend any time playing with the L6 Link settings in the HD500.

In terms of acoustic versatility I found I got the best results by using the HD500 analog outputs for electric guitar, and plugging an acoustic guitar directly into the L3t mixer (Channel 1) and using the Acoustic feature on that channel. I find I can get a better acoustic guitar tone that way vs. using the HD500 for an acoustic preset. Again - this was my finding based on limited time invested. It was easier to balance the volumes between the acoustic guitar and the HD500 using the HD500 analog outputs in conjunction with the L3t mixer.

I believe that with more time I could probably find a good way to use L6 Link with the HD500 and maybe set up an acoustic guitar preset that uses my JTV-59 thru the HD500 to obtain a better tone than my acoustic direct to the L3t mixer. I think I could also use the HD500 L6 Link settings to customize my presets for electric vs. acoustic guitar output...... but I haven't done any of that (yet?).

Bottom line: there is probably no 'best' way to hook up the HD500, L3t, and an electric/acoustic guitar mix. There are several ways - what matters is what works best for you, and that will take time and experimenting.

This sometimes indicates a problem with the power supply unit. Check for frayed/split connections where the wires join the PSU wart. Also check the power button on the X3 - sometimes that becomes loose. If possible try a new power supply:

If a new PSU does not fix things your X3 needs to be repaired.

Nope. There's been no announcement and there probably won't be any word much in advance. Line 6 keeps this stuff pretty closely guarded.

Check the Customtone website (see link at top of this page). Select HD500 as the product and search for 'acoustic'. Download the tone files and then open them using HD500 Edit. Tweak as desired and SEND the ones you like to your HD500 device.

Personally, I tend to use no amp for acoustics. I use the Vintage Preamp, a tube compressor, an EQ or two, a bit of reverb, and optionally some chorus and delay.

If you didn't save backups of your custom presets/setlists there's nothing to be done - they're gone. However, you can restore at least the factory presets by reinstalling the HD500 firmware. When prompted, choose to replace the existing presets.

To mute the Guitar plug buzz you might try temporarily setting the Inputs on the current HD500 preset to an unused physical input (something other than Guitar).

Sounds like your switch is dodgy. Other than external midi control, the only way the Looper is turned on/off is by using the footswitch (or probably by using the ENTER button with the Looper selected in the signal flow view, but that's not very useful).

Just an observation.......... you could achieve the same thing in a single patch by assigning the EXP pedal as the controller for whatever Volume control you use (amp?), with a MIN value of 50% and a MAX value of 60%. Then just use the pedal to go from Rhythm (full heel position) to Lead (full toe). But both methods work - it's just a matter of saving patch/preset space.
