I'm with those who are suggesting the compound radius Mighty Mite Strat replacement neck.

I was having low E slippage issues too which i improved by switching to a heavier gauge of string.

But more importantly, I didn't like the jumbo frets on the JTV stock neck.

I picked up the compound radius with an ebony fingerboard for about $125 on Ebay.

Honestly, it's like a new guitar.

It addressed both my needs of rectifying slippage AND more pleasant feel.

i could have lived with the stock neck, but after switching, I'm really glad I did!

I'm using the VDI in for my JTV69 so putting it in front is not an option.

I've just done some experimenting and that works.

I can either creat a preset with loop only or pop the loop into my chain.

works both ways.

Using an external tuner??

Hi all.

Wondering if anyone has experience using an external tuner pedal with the Pod HD500?

I'm thinkinh i could creat a patch that mutes the output but leaves the loop in tact and then put the external pedal on the end of the loop (with no need for return).

Anyone try doing this with success.

Basically what I want to be able to do is leave the tuner active at all times and then, when i hit a preset button, it mutes output but lets me tune.My reason is that I'm not entirely thrilled with the built-in tuner but i LOVE my Pod otherwise.

JTV-69 and string breaks as the saddle??

I've had my new JTV-69 for about two weeks and have ben playing it moderately at home but nothing aggressive.

(By the way i love the look, feel and sound of it?!!)

Last night I played my first live show with it and two songs from the end of our third set, the A sting broke at the bridge/saddle.

I've played four FULL shows with the same set of Elixir 10-46s on my old Variax 500 and luckily had it as a backup ready to go last night.

I've used elixirs for five years and rarely if EVER have I broken a string live so I'm wondering if this is a feature of the saddles or if it was just a fluke?

What's the general experience with breakage and a possible design flaw?

Migrating Variax workbench settings from Variax 500 to JTV-69??

Apologies if this has been covered but I couldn't find it.

I have had a great relationship with my first generation Variax 500 but want to the flexibility and blending powers of a new generation JTV-69.

In workbench, i have set up several custom settings and modified the factory settings on a few others.

Will the JTV-69 recognize those models when I connect through Workbench?

Do i just replace the models on the JTV-69 as I would have been say re-intalling them on my 500?

Hi there:

New JTV owner here so forgive me, but i cannot find a straight answer to this question or instructions how to do it.

I'm running the variax through an HD500 using the VDI cable and it sounds amazing.

I've seen references to being able to blend or layer sounds of the model and the magnetic p/ups so i can get a little distorted magnetic humbucker on top of the sparkling acoustic model (or any of the modeled sounds).

So...

1) Can this be done entirely through the VDI input and the HD500 or do i need to run the models through the VDI and the magnetic p/ups through the standard 1/4" output?

2) How is it done?

Is it possible to do this without all the external pedals?

I just want to send magnetic output through one series of effects and the acoustic through another with the result being a nice blended or layered sound.
