I went through that same basic thing, too. On two HD Pro units. Terrible waste of time.

You seem to know your stuff.

I had TWO attempts at owning the HD Pro. Both had non working SPDIF issues, so I went back to HD500.

It seems reality is as it appears. You likely have the same lemon issue.

I never heard back from Line 6 about it, and come to think of it, I don't think I've heard of anyone with a working SPDIF on the HD Pro.

FWIW,

I returned 2 HD Pro units because of faulty SPDIF connections, before finally saying screw it, and sticking with my HD 500. Was trying to reamp as you are. I checked everything thoroughly and had no issues with the HD 500 SPDIF.
