POD X3 Live USB Recording in Pro Tools 10

Hi folks

So I am new to recording and have just got Pro Tools 10.

I am recording via USB directly into the Mac.

In the manual it says the X3L sends 8 outputs via USB. I can see them listed in my I/O section in Pro Tools.

I am assuming you just untick the tracks you don't want. Is that right?

My guitar signal is Dual Tone Guitar panned L & R. Tone 1 Left and Tone 2 Right.

I would like to record Tone 1 and Tone 2 on separate tracks and record Dry tracks as well.

The L6 manual confuses me when it talks about setting up USB recording.

In the setup for recording it says:

1-2 is the main signal, configured on POD X3, POD X3 Live or POD X3 Pro’s • Outputs page for Digital/XLR Outs.
3-4 is Tone 1 separately in stereo.•
5-6 is Tone 2 separately in stereo.•
7 is the sum of the inputs you’ve chosen for Tone 1.•
8 is the sum of the inputs you’ve chosen for Tone 2.•

The 7 and 8 inputs are perfect as raw sources for plug-in processing.

Then it says:

USB Sends When Operating In Stereo Tone Mode

When operating in Stereo Tone mode, the USB Sends of your POD X3, POD X3 Live or POD X3 Pro will provide the following 8 outputs to your computer:

1 is the Stereo Tone with balance and mute Left.•

2 is the Stereo Tone with balance and mute Right.•

3 is the Stereo Tone without balance or mute Left.•

4 is the Stereo Tone without balance or mute Right.•

5 is the Stereo Tone without balance or mute Left.•

6 is the Stereo Tone without balance or mute Right.•

7 is the Stereo Input Left dry.•

8 is the Stereo Input Right dry.•

I thought all tracks were Stereo Tracks as standard?

Am I supposed to record these as Stereo or Mono tracks?

Can someone help me please.

Hey buddy. When you say "Now turn the second knob to the left under the screen until you see "2" across the bottom of the screen" do you mean turn the second knob FROM the left? to chenge the screen from showing ->1+2 to 2 only?. You are talking about the four little black knobs below the screen right?

Hi folks,

Can anyone tell me how to do this please.

I thought all I needed to do was after I set up my tone 1 sound I hit save again but change the location to tone 2 but nothing happens when I do this.

It won't save across. I must be doing something wrong.

Please help.
