i have two of them, an old POD from the early days, with a 2.0 upgrade, but i did not update it any further, because it will loose its capability of letting the delay ring when selecting another preset.

Line6 edit reflects the state of the hardware knobs when turning them, but not the other way round: when i turn the knobs in the editor, i have to send the data to the POD before i can hear the result.

i recently got a POD XT, where data is sent right away but it seems both PODs wont let me connect to editor when midi channel not set to 1..this is what i found when testing.

weiß nicht, welches USB du verwendest, kenn mich auch nicht mit Mac aus.

Doch eins scheint sicher:

1) kein plug- and -play Midi interface benutzen, stattdessen eins mit Treiber (M-Audio UNO z.B.)

2) Midi Kanal auf 1 stellen

you mess up midi channels and CC numbers.

Ur FCB sends its data to all midi channels, so your pod will receive them no matter which channel you set it to.

One channel is enough to handle ALL data coming in !

(caution: if you want to use an editor to tweak ur POD, you need both midi connections, and set it to midi channel 1 or the Pod will not be recognized)

In order to control the POD, you only need its midi input connected, as the pod itself does not need to send out data to the FCB. The POD just receives data, not the FCB1010.

Now, as of the wah: the CC number 4 sets the position of the wah, your pedal will have a range from 0-127 by default.

But you also have to switch the wah ON first, done by CC number 43.

See in the chart if thats right or if its dif on your POD. Look for Wah on/off and Wah- position.(and check if I messed up the CCs out of memory)

you can switch the wah on/off whenever you like, should its state be on within the preset (on when selected) or off (switch wah on after preset selection)

Note that in the CC charts if there is just an on/off task, it says like: 0-64= off / 65-127= on, meaning for the state ON it does not matter if you set the number to 65,66,67.....126, or 127- in all cases the button will be ON.

i set 0 for off, 127 for on, which is just a matter of choice.

You can also consider to put in another chip into the FCB, like the UNO chip (there is another one too) giving you the opportunity to have stomp-box behavior. (Led on/off states)

also check MidiOx which is a nice midi monitor app to see what data is sent.

In either cases I strongly recommend a software editor for the FCB1010.

I purchased this one, but there is also a free one around (Ed Dixon) without support, but will do at least for the standard FCB (without chip).

just wondering:

in a setup like I use it, many units share one midi bus, so each of them have to use another midi channel.

My Pod is set to channel 14.

But what if I want to use an editor?

one thing is, that the Pods only like my M-audio midi interfaces- but these I don´t wanna use in this setup.

the other thing is that if i plug the midi connections out of the system to get the Midisport UNO to work, I as well have to set the midi channel to 1, and after edtitng, back to 14

as of this issue, it is likely that I will do this very often. I guess there is no workaround, someone?

i am asking the same here as i own the old POD 2.1 and recently the XT, wondering about which of the both has real pure tone advantages.

It might be only the choice of more amps that lifts the experience even higher with the XT, togehter with its huge amount of serious efxs. As of this the XT is much more of a pro gear indeed.

But in this particular project, i am only doing a type of POP/Rock top 40 thing, Blues and Jazz, in which the old POD seems to be just right. If i get its Wah and booster running well with the FCB1010, i will say good bye to the nice efx and stompbox setups. Good bye, analog- digital- tape delay, autowah, octafuzz....

The old POD can at least stomp on/off distortion, delay, wah, booster, compressor, EQ, & tap tempo using the Behringer FCB1010 with UNO chip, and the rotary and tremolo sounds are nice.

I woudn´t use the spring reverb, thou its well modeled.

i own an old POD from the early days labeled "Pedal", its power supply says 1200mA.

The one for my POD XT says 2000mA and both, the supply and the XT warm up quite more than the old Pod does.

and btw, I cannot use the old supply for the XT, cos this would cause the units to heat up too much
