THanks for the post. I don't play live so my MK1 never gets loud but I'm wondering if my tubes are getting old. I'm noticing on the cleanest of clean presets that there's a bit of distortion in there and that is with using both a Schecter with EMGs and a Douglas 7 string with passives. What doya think? (I have no idea how old these tubes are as I bought the amp used)

Thanks man , I get it ... I'm going to slide toward the 89 though I love the look of the 59s .... I know it's not for me .... I found a great pic that answers my question about the butt end of the 89... That angled "top" is the key for me ... not as liquid smooth as a Strat but better than the Les Paul boxiness of my Schecter.

How would describe the necks on these guitars? .. I'm not sure I'm near any store that stocks JTVs but I'm pretty sure I'm going to buy one in the next few months.

The JTV 89 is described as "Fast and Flat" so is it like a strat neck but not that extreme? I'm not a shredder but that might work.

Is the JTV 59 like a Les Paul neck but not that extreme?

I'm in a quandary as I find strat bodies more comfortable but I cannot stand the huge Strat necks as far as reaching the top string (my hands are small)

I've just held a Les Paul once and I was shocked .. that neck was like a frigging telephone pole .. although I love the LP body looks wise .... I found it uncomfortable....

Is the JTV 89 body sculpted a bit as far as the area where your strumming hand comes over the guitar. I miss my old Strat in that respect! So my right hand loved strats but my left hand hated them.

Presently I own a Schecter C-1 with EMGs .. the neck is in the middle ... just wondering if someone could give me some input.

I'm torn between the blood red JTV 89 and the tobacco sunburst JTV 59

From your comment is it correct to surmise that power tube replacement involves "biasing". I just talked to my friendly local dealer and the guy was like "I think Line 6 tubes are pre-biased, we just pop them in."

I'm seeing bias commentary all over the place, can I infer the obvious ..... that replacing tubes requires biasing?

Thanks guys, I think my next move is to get the UX2 interface and then I can experiment with going direct out of the XLR, mic'ing or just using the UX2 with POD farm. Mic'ing might be good enough for my purposes. All the better though, if POD farm has the presets that are already on my amp because they're all I need. I'm currently in preset heaven, even with the Mark I Spider Valve.

As time rolls on I'll just start trolling around for a used Spider Valve MKII amp to upgrade to from my previously used (but mint) MK I.

Yes, I'm liking the UX2 especially the 16 track Ableton. I currently have a 8 track version I got free with another amp and I'm slowly investing time learning that software.

Id to ask some advice on what product to buy.

I have about $200 - $300 to spend.

I'd like to buy an recording interface so I can continue recording into Ableton only using Line 6 gear. (currently using Fender Mustnag and their Fuse software)

I own a Line 6 MK 1 Spider Valve. And a FBV MK II pedal.

I'd like something to have a microphone input as well so as to allow for future recording of vocals/acoustic/mic ing amp.

I'd like to also get going in TonePort mostly for the lessons end of it.

Torn between UX1 / UX2 or scooping up a older POD XT (they're still floating around unused).

Do you guys find mic'ing the amp less hassle than going direct?

I'm wondering how limited I am with the MK I amp ... but the thing sure has 100s of possible tones though none drop to the amp from Tone Port. A POD could be used to run effects with the amp set to clean . is this a better use of my money?

Do I just upgrade to a MK II amp to get more use out of my MK pedal?

So confused ......

Same here, bought all my stuff used but still happy. Just trying to figure out most cost-effective way to 1) hook up to guitar port 2) do direct line recording 3) improve the effect situation (would like better stereo choruses & better digital delay and make sure any distortion goes before those two!)

Will one device do all 3 ? Line 6 POD XT ? X3?

Or is it better to just upgrade to a MKII via trade in at Guitar Center ?
