I've read that he hd series can be used as audio interfaces for most major DAW's and VI's. Can I use my hd 500 as a midi interface aswel?

Also, can hd edit software run as a plugin inside a DAW or virtual instrument?

Where is the eq modeled in the signal chain of the xt? Specifically, if it comes before the amp, is it before or after the 'stomp'?

what equalizer does the xt model? the new hd's don't have it, so I'm running into my old xtlive before my hd500 just for the sake of the eq. is it modeled after an actual unit that I could use to replace my xtlive? I use it for its full-variable frequency. would any fully parametric eq be relatively similar?

The hd pro is heralded as the ultimate pod hd. Why? Its extensive I/O is displayed proudly in the info page- is that the reason it's considered the best? I/O options? My main question is this: is it able to handle more DSP than other units? DSP limit reached is becoming a frequent nuesance on my hd500.

yeah; I run direct, and the pre's do sound better, they sound fuller and smoother, albeit without as much tonality to work with. but like you said your ears have to take precedence.

that makes sense with the dt50... but you can still change the cabs and mics, so what isn't being modelled in the preamp models that is in the normal amps?
