I had the same issues and couldn't sit around waiting for Line 6 to help so tried a few things and I have some solutions

SOLUTION 1: Apogee One purchased and installed - works fine!

SOLUTION 2: I used time machine and rolled back to Snow Leopard. UX2 now working as normal. Not ideal though because data added to apps such as Aperture during the Mountain Lion period was not accessible, so.....

SOLUTION 3: Created a 60Gb partition on my Macintosh HD. Made a clean install of Mountain Lion on the partition. Downloaded most recent drivers (Sept 2012) and the UX2 is now working as normal for the last week and no signs of distortion. No other 3rd party apps such as Spotify, Skype, Flip4Mac, RealPlayer, LogMeIn were installed in the partition - just ML and Line6. The bare minimum for making music. Likelihood is that the problems are caused by either upgrading from previous OS to ML, upgrading from previous Line 6 drivers, conflicts with other apps.

I created a ticket. They asked for lots of info, which I supplied. I checked today and the ticket has gone. Flakey product and now rubbish support.

Thank you. I just raised a ticket.

The UX2 has been unusable since Mountain Lion launch in July and I'm hoping that they can fix this soon. I'm going to start researching other products out there. Maybe I can sell this to a Windows user and switch to Apogee or something a little more "Apple" friendly.

I experienced heavy distortion/crackling following the upgrade to Mountain Lion (OSX 10.8.2). I noticed that an update (Line 6 Audio-Midi Driver 7.1.9) was available on the Line 6 site to resolve the problem and installed it. This partly works. The audio recording is no longer distorted all of the time. However, the sound does become distorted after 1 or 2 minutes of recording and then clears up after another 30 seconds. Really frustrating.

I already own a Pod X3 Live and I'm thinking about getting a Yamaha APX900 acoustic guitar to use with the pedalboard. Can anyone recommend some good patches to use for finger picking and flat picking?

I recently wrote an article for my guitar tuition website about tuning problems. Not all of these will be relevant to you, but it's a good checklist to begin illiminating some of the possible causes.

The guitar guitar is in tune for open strings and spot-on at the 12th fret so it's not likely to be intonation. I would look into whether the nut is too high because this can lead to tuning problems in the first 4 positions. Cheap or poorly adjusted capos apply some serious pressure to the strings, much more than is possible with your fingers. This can cause the guitar to go slightly sharp. An adjustable capo such as the ones made by Paige allow the pressure to be adjusted allowing you to apply just enough pressure for each string to sound clearly without any buzz

I don't know how long you've been playing guitar so please don't be offended when I mention the following

- Pushing the string too hard against the fret board on will cause the string to be stretched enough to make the note go sharp. This can happen with tall frets or even with normal frets if you push too hard just behind the fret. This is more likely to happen if you have strong fingers (or light strings).

- Pulling Back the Neck. When a guitarist’s wrist gets tired through extended period of playing, there can be a tendency to compensate by using the arm to apply the extra force necessary to fret the chords. This causes the neck to flex backwards and sharpens all the strings to varying degrees.

- Accidental String Bending. When notes are fretted, the strings are pushed down and sometimes unintentionally sideways causing the note to sharpen. . Fitting heavier gauge strings can sometime help a little.

POD X3 Live Footswitches have stopped working

I have noticed that the upper bank of footswitches have just stopped working eg Mod, Comp, Tone 2, Delay etc.

Has anyone else encountered this and have solution?
