Karl, unfortunately the HD400 doesn't have the Tube comp, nor can we use both compressor and EQ simultaneously. I'm sure the tone sounds great on the HD500. Wish I could use it!!

Try the Hiwatt model with the Tube Comp in front of it. Nice, clear bass tone. Good for finger playing.

Tube Comp:

Thresh: 50

Level: 19

Hiway amp:

Drive: 60

Bass: 88

Mid: 83

Treb: 31

Pres: 72

ChanVol: 83

412 Hiway cab, 67 condenser, 10% room

EQ: 4 band shift

low: 5.1

low mid: 0

shift: lowest setting

P-Bass patch for Variax? Rock on. I luvs me some P-bass. I'd love to hear it if you can record a few seconds worth. Although it might not help with my JTV GAS!

Yeah, I was thinking that model wasn't in the 300. To me it sounded decent without the EQ, but really shined once I got some of the lower ranges boosted a bit. I wanted a more precise frequency boost than what I got from cranking the bass knob.

I'm sure you'll be able to get something decent with the parametric EQ in the 300 and/or tweaking the tone knobs to your taste.

I've downloaded and tried out the tone - good work, mr_slugworth!

As mentioned I'm playing it through a Variax 300 patch that I downloaded from somewhere. Somebody else created it and called it P-Bass. I can't vouch for its accuracy but your bass tone through my HD400 sounds pretty good with it. Certainly good enough for me to use in my home studio until/unless I want to get a real bass player with a real rig. Thanks!

Man, I'd love to but that's gonna have to wait a couple of days. If I play bass any more today I'm gonna get a blister which would absolutely suck. Like I said, I ain't no bassist!

can you please post the sound sample. Cause not everyone are able to buy the unit at the moment. At least in my country we still don't have them in stores...
