If you bought it new, yes, take it back and exchange it for another one.

As for the settings at higher volumes - the factory presets are meant to be starting points for making your own settings. Tweak to get the sound to your liking, then save them. Note that when playing out the room (and if you have the amp mic-ed) will make a difference on tone, too, and may require further tweaking.

Hello I didn't see anywhere on here where they have found a fix for this, correct or did I miss it? I just purchased a spider iv 150 about 3 weeks ago,, and mine amp has done the same thing a couple of times while playing it,, at first I thought the plug wasn't in good, but the second time it happened, I was playing along and bam off and on,, real quick. I am wondering if I should take it back and trade it for something else,, I bought a line 6 variax guitar, amp and shortboard all at the same time,, now I am begining to wonder if that was such a good idea or not,, the amp seemed to be okay, except for higher volumes and then some of the pre-sets seem to either be too trebly or harsh. Anyway I just thought I would chime in on my problem with the amp also, seems there are getting to be quite a few people with the same problem. I will keep watch on this site to see if line 6 has any answers,, but if not I may be taking mine back. I have a fender pro 185 that is over 20 yrs old and haven't had a problem with it, but I was impressed with all the sounds and effects that this amp has,, it would be a shame to have to return it because of some small glitch, but what if after the warranty goes out, the small glitch turns into a major melt down? I just got the Spider IV 75 yesterday and today was my first chance to play it for more than a couple of minutes. I've already updated it to 2.00.

Just today in the last 30 minutes, it's already restarted 3 times. I'm a little disturbed to see on the forums that so many other people are having the same problem. I've always thought Line 6 products were top notch, but now my faith in the company has been shaken.

The resetting error in the Spider iv series amps is reported by several users.

I've had the same problem with mine too....only played it 3 times so far. Just bought it brand new because the spider 3 i had before was so reliable. Now with the spider 4 that i've literally played on 3 different occasions (only having it a week) has aslo restarted 3 different times so far. Honestly I think I'm about to just take it back. I don't have the time to chase down the right service people to take a look at it. I'm just glad to see that I'm not the only one with this headache.
