Hey Octo, I am not A/B'ing them - I don't have them. However, I've played through Recto cabs before, with multiple amps. I never once thought to myself - wow these things have almost no bass. I also have a closed back 4x12 with 4 vintage 30's (hughes and kettner). It has plenty of bass response. I know cabs will make a difference in frequency response, but the bass response on the Pod's Recto cab cannot be explained by cabinet design. It's deficient.

As for the XXL, I'm not asking for any adjustment to it. Being a bigger cab, it likely does have more bass response than the other cabs. I've never heard one in person, and I wouldn't be surprised if that's what they sound like. Not my cup of tea, but I'm not asking for an adjustment.

But both cabs use vintage 30's. Cabinet design alone cannot explain the COLLOSAL difference in bass response between these cabs.

Maybe that's working off assumptions, but I feel confident my assumptions are correct. And yes, I would LIKE for the cabs to have relatively the same frequency response, so the difference is less in the EQ but the tonal qualities. But I'm not asking for that. I think what I'm asking for is authentic to the real thing.

As far as the Recto amp, yeah, they have an above average bass response, but this is just crazy. I've also played a Recto, but only through a Recto cab. But because I know that the real Recto cab isn't a total bass-suck, I feel qualified to assert that the Pod's Recto amp has more bass than it should.

The Recto amp and Recto cab on the Pod sound good together - the amp's extra bass matches the cab's lack thereof. But when you try to match either of them to a different amp or cab, you either get huge bass or none. I don't feel like that's authentic. If anyone has the real deals and can confirm what I'm saying, that'd be great.

Are you basing your observations on your perception off how these amps should be in comparison to the real amps/cabs that have been modelled.......or are you basing them on how you would prefer them to be?

I mean have you ever placed the real amps and cabs up against the HD500?

I personally have never had to add any extra EQ for any of the amps and I've got some pretty kick *** tones going on with the Treadplate and the Engl.

I guess in short, what I am saying is that I do not share your opinion but thats not to say your observations are unwarranted.

At least you have filled in a feedback form.

No one finds it bizarre that the Recto cab (which uses 4 vintage 30's) has almost no bass response, while the ENGL cab (which also uses 4 vintage 30's) has so much bass you can't dial it out?!
