I think you will get better, more, and faster answers to your questions if you start a new thread for each question. Start four new discussions, ask your separate questions, and mark each thread as a question. That way people will be able to jump in on each question separately and it will be much easier for you to follow the answers and suggestions.

I think you'll probably have good answers to all your questions by the end of the weekend.

Hi there, you seem to know a fair bit so here's few questions -

1. How do I set the EXP1 for wah off & EXP2 for wah on for every channel?

2. How do I copy & paste a channel? I have tried using the control key on my mac & nothing happened?

3. Are there any suggestions/tips on setting up channels/patches for running from my Fender Strat through the POD & direct into the PA?

4. I just spent 4 hours making patches & then it crashed & I've lost a few edits, how do I stop this in future?

The Toe switch does seem to get easier to use after a while certainly, but whether that's because it actually loosens up or whether it's because you just 'learn' how to make it work (more likely IMO) I can't really say

It's quite hard to operate the toe switch with your foot if you're sitting fairly low on an easy chair and it's also nearly impossible to operate by hand.

The switch itself is on a small circuit board inside which is strengthened. It's activated by a bar on the underside of the expression pedal about a third of the way back that protrudes down inside the case of the HD500, and it's prevented from going 'too far' by a 'stop' bar on the underside of the expression pedal at the toe end, so no, you can't break it by standing on it too hard

The Toe switch is very stiff when new but you can work it in to make it easier by turning it on and off a few times repeatedly.

You won't damage it, no.

Thanks again for all your help guys. I decided to use the pedal itself to cut the wah on/off. It does take a bit of standing on to get it to cut on/off. Hope this does not damage the unit.

Yeah, you won't be able to adjust that that out and a noise gate wont make a difference either, you are right in wanting to assign an footswitch to turn it off.

Like Nick has suggested and what is the most widely accepted form of turning a wah on and off is to use the toe switch.

To do this, select the Wah in the FX block, make sure it is turned off (push enter once to turn it on or off) and then push and hold "ENTER" which takes you to the FS Assign Page.

You will then see that you can turn function knob 1 to change which footswitch controls the effect. You should turn it till it says " EXP TOE SWITCH" and then save your patch.

Now, in theory, what will happen is that if you push down hard with your toe on the expression pedal, it will click and turn your wah on. Push it again, and it will turn your way off.

Be aware that if this does not work first time, you may have to adjust your parameter controls depending on which Expression parameter you are using for the wah.

Glad to have been of some help. When I'm not using the Wah, I personally just stand on the Toe Switch to turn it off and bypass the effect as you are going to get the wah effect in whatever position the expression pedal happens to be in. The Toe Switch should be the ideal on/off switch for the wah.

Thx...newbie here with this POD but I am learning. I appreciate all the help. I was at band practice and just have got back home is why I have not responded sooner. The guys loved the sounds I am getting with the POD HD500. The only complaint I have about the wah is it adds noise and depending on if I leave the pedal down or up it adds bass or treble. I haven't found a way to adjust this out. I have a noise gate in the effects chain as well. The noise from the wah is why I just wanted to assign a on/off pedal. That still may present a problem live. I will continue to experiment and read the boards. Of course any advice is always welcome !!!

Most people would use the EXP TOE SWITCH to switch the expression pedal between Wah and Vol and this would be how to emulate a traditional Wah pedal ON/OFF. It's simply a matter of altering the FS assignment from FS5 to another footswitch or the Exp Toe Switch in HD500 Edit or on the unit itself by clicking and holding the Enter button to get into FootSwitch assignment mode followed by navigaiting to the effect you want to change the FS assignment for by using the left and right buttons on the 4 way Nav Pad and then using encoder #1 (the encoders are the four knobs under the LCD) to select the footswitch you want to use.
