I had the same issue with the m9. It can send the CC via midi out port for the control you are operating on the unit. It is designed to be externally controlled but is not programable to send a required midi message. You need a separate controller to program CC midi messages to operate both the M9 and amp. I used a Midi CPU from Highly liquid http://www.highlyliquid.com. It is a circuit board component and requires takes a bit of work to set up. you can check out WOBO stuff http://www.woboge.com.

Well, they can talk to one another, but each uses MIDI in its own way, too.You may be able to do what you want to do, I just don't know enough about the Randall's MIDI map to say for sure. I imagine that it's set up so that each module is selected by a certain MIDI PC message. The M13 sends MIDI PC messages when you bring up a scene. So it's just a matter of seeing if the two coordinate in a way that you'd want.

I believed that midi meant that one item could"talk" to another.I thought that I could use the effects as well as switch moduals via midi.For example-my amp is a modular amp(4 different moduals)I use one modual for rythem and another for leads.I wanted some reverb in my rythem and then switch to delay for leads on another modual using one foot switch(m13).Bottom line is that it won't do what I thought,I'll have to sell it I guess.Thanks for the replies I did get,I can atleast stop trying to figure out a way I can make it do what I know it can't and let the subject rest...thanks

The point is that the M13 can be controlled by a MIDI controller. It's very, very limited as a MIDI controller. It does send MIDI PC messages when you select a scene, so some people have been able to incorporate that functionality in controlling an amp. The PC messages the M13 sends are the same ones that it reacts when being controlled by a MIDI controller. These are all spelled out in the Advanced Guide. As far getting the amp to react to these that's more of an issue of looking in the amp's documentation than the M13's

Too bad line 6 doesn't tell you things like "it's not meant to be a midi foot controller"It is an important question i've just never gotten a decient answer from any "expert users",spending 500 dollars for something that doesn't work(for me anyways) especially IF 600 people are out there wanting to know the same thing.Seems to me someone should have answered the question before now.

This seems like a very odd statement to me. If Line 6 ever implied that the M13 was meant to be a MIDI controller, that would be one thing, but they don't. You were just seem to be assuming that it would when you bought it for some reason.

lots of point to the midi... that's how you'd upgrade it.... and you can have the m13 controlled from other gear...

you can't change the midi on the m13, but you can send the proper midi commands to it.

well maybe 600 other people also thought the m13 was something it isn't...

or maybe they just thought... "what if"

if this silly little feature that displaces a single footswitch is that important to you....

maybe the m13 wasn't the right choice for you.

especially if you can't appreciate it for what it does do.

it's not designed to do that... (e.g. the M13 is not a midi foot controller) that 691 views is probably 600 people wanting to do the same thing.

if you waited a year and 3 months to follow up, either you have figured out a way forward or it's not that important.

I've got a gig coming up and I can't get the units midi to change channels on my randall rm4.How do you sety it up?Ive looked at all the vid tutorials and nothing helps.
