I've been using virtual box per audioartillary's advice and it works great for me. I get my USB connection to work through the devices menu devices/usb devices/ and then i just click on the ToneCore and it gets its act together.

I've been using a virtual XP image myself, and find it works rather well for development. However, flashing the MCU fails horribly from an image. After trying to flash the MCU from an image, the MCU was essentially a brick until I was able to find a physical XP machine to re-flash the MCU from.

It would be nice if a Line 6 dev could at least just try compiling against Windows 7 (32 and 64 bit) and see what happens. For whatever reason, the installer bypasses normal Windows compatibility APIs and probably just has some precompiler flags or such with a hard coded list of allowed operating systems. It should only take a few minutes to recompile and another few minutes to test it on Windows 7.

How about it Line 6? Could you please at least try to recompile the installer for us? It'd be a huge help to those of us without physical XP boxes, which are becoming more and more rare.

It's been quite reliable for me (XP hosted on Linux). One really nice thing about setting up a virtual machine is as you upgrade to newer OS's (Windows 7, etc) you don't really need to do anything to keep your development going. I think it's pretty clear that Line6 won't be updating this kit in the future.

I tried compatibility mode, and it still wouldn't install.

The virtual machine isn't ideal, but it works (mostly). I'm having an issue with its USB detection only working sometimes, but that's happening for all USB devices, not just the pedal.

Have you tried that XP compatibility mode that 7 supports? Might work...?

Virtual machine works great for me. To be honest I prefer it.

So, are we ever going to see 64-bit support for the DDK? I just got my kit, and I can't install it.

The main page mentions it's not compatible with Vista 64. OK, fine. It does not mention it's not compatible with Windows 7 64. So I do not own a computer that I can install this on. And there's no mention of this until I get the documentation that actually comes with the kit.
