I am so pleased it all turned out for you mate. I transplanted a Warmoth neck onto my 69 within a couple of days of getting it. It fixed all the problems you have experienced. My only regret is that I have a rather nice Warmoth guitar, active EMGs with a JTV69 neck on it which I no longer play. I may as well have thrown away £1500. I don't expect compensation from Line 6 for my loss but still very dissappointed that I had to resort to such a measure to fix what should not have been broken. Still, really glad they fixed it for you. I suppose I can revel in the fact that it is NOW the best guitar I have ever owned and I've had some in the last 39 years. No one seems to have a clue as to what it is I'm playing but that's part of the fun.

Hi,

It's time I updated this thread - I'm going to keep it brief. I left it a little while to give myself chance to settle in with the guitar.

I finally recieved my Guitar (A Brand new one from Line 6) within the first couple of weeks in January

It was set up by Tim Morgan to a fantasic standard, I am extremely pleased with it and love this thing now. Along with my DT-25, POD HD500 this thing rocks and provides so much inspiration to delve into musical styles I wouldn't normally have to option too. ex. I've been writing Dobro parts, Banjo parts etc

Again I am very pleased and the guitar so much better than the original one I recieved.

Now onto how Line6 looked after me.

These are the people I dealt with

Chris Neave

Tim Morgan (indirectly)

Rich Renkin

What can I say? The service I recieved from Line6 and the above people was second to none. I have never been so looked after after my initial problems. I was kept informed (I'm sure they were sick of me pestering on updates over the Xmas period). They really understood my frustrations.

Now I won't go into too much detail of the compensation I recieved (it wouldn't be fair to give these expectations to other people, as every case is different). Lets just say for my time and patience I recieved more than adequate compensation from Chris NEave which was very much appreciated and being used a lot - Thank You Chris . Rich Renkin also offered future options to me which I will certainly take up so thanks Rich. And to Tim Morgan you're skills are being very much appreciated in the feel/playability of my instrument. I thanks all you guys for your patience with me and the fantastic service I recieved - You are a credit to the company and LINE6 should be very proud to have you as it employees - got any Jobs going? LOL

I would also like to publicly thank my dealer (PMT Music in Manchester) as they also gave me some cash (10%) back due to the instrument going in their Xmas sale for a period.

So in all yes I was very frustrated and disappointed initially but LINE 6 and the people above restored my faith completely, they have gained a customer for life and someone that would love to work with these products professionally as I totally am blown away with them (as was my pprocer friend when he heard it the other night - his Jaw literally hit the floor!).

I post this as we are all quick to complain (rightly so) but not so quick to feedback on service levels that exceed anything I have ever experienced.

THANK YOU LINE 6

I had almost a similar experience when buying the JTV59 (2 weeks ago). The first piece they took out from the store had the Tuner knob sunk in further than it should - the start of the white label on the knob same level as the body surface. They took out another piece and all seemed okay after a quick rund-down. After I paid, the shopkeeper told me that all the JTVs he has in the shop has been with him for a year.

I carried out the setup to lower the strings. While turning some of the allen screws at the bridge, I could see some chrome flaking off. I was astonished and said to myself "Oh well ... I can live that!" which I don't think anyone should for a guitar of this price. I use both second-handed (Japanese and Korean) guitars and have 2 American Fenders.

However, I ended up using 3 string sets because the high "E" kept breaking at the tuner. After some thought - I decided to DIY and carefully filed off the "E" tuner's hole so it doesn't cut the string. It worked. I ended up playing for quite a while together with my brand new HD500.

My conclusion? Quality control ... hmmm. Now my JTV is a little relic'd (at the tuner)!

These issues seem to be VERY common on the 69's, and they're not acceptable. The problem is always regarding the tremolo and (worse) the neck. It's just an awfull neck! Very badly finished!!! You get fret buzz cause the frets aren't levelled, you get those buzzes from the nut to the pegs (I had to put a rubber band on the strings to silence them), the E strings tend to fall off the fretboard, the fretboard edges are badly polished and uneven... I mean, the neck just isn't acceptable! It spoils a great guitar! And please, don't feed me that story about the guitar being half the price for the guitar itself and the other for the electronics...I've had and played cheap guitars from factory's all over the world and this is the worst neck ever!

I'm also disappointed and would have bought a 59 instead, not to say some other guitar!

I'm a strat guy although I have a Les Paul too. Trem is part of my style which is why I opted for the 69 overall, I'd probaly get both if I had the money. The 89 is not really for me purely on it'd appearance I wouldn't be happy with it, maybe when I was in my 20's (god I'm getting old!).

Just to clarify all the guitars were tested in store, sealed boxes from a delivery. With the first guitar the one I got home after testing in store I only noticed the problems after getting home as the store was quite busy and noisey so it just drowned things out that I didn't notice. When I went back to pick up a replacement it was discovered that every guitar we tested (manger and I) had the same issue. He wasn't best pleased himself

It wasn't the store you mention, not that that matters because they were fresh deliveries in unopened boxes.

The store said they'd call me today but haven't! The store has my money still but I have no guitar as it was left with them to sort and call me. But if I'm honest they've been great and really apologetic not that's it's their fault. I'm guessing it's because customer service mangement have taken it to their directors who have started a process for me.

I posted here and in the other forum http://line6.com/support/message/335979#335979 where I have recieved great customer support and am know in touch with Line6. The matter is with Line6 and will be dealt with next week.

I will keep posted my progress.

My initial complaint was not to complain about the store or indeed Line6 customer service, Simply just the poor quality of these instruments that I paid a lot of money for. In my opinion when paying over a grand for a guitar it should be immaculate in every area.

Hi

I'm really sorry that you've had this experience with several Korean JTV-69s. I played some from the very first batch into the UK back in February and have to say that they were all pretty good at that point. I also played a US version which was superb and that changed my view of the JTV-69 which was my least favourite of the three models and quite a long way behind the JTV-59 and JTV-89 at that point. The JTV-69 is still my No.3 in terms of styling.

I have a JTV-59 and a JTV-89 personally. The JTV 59 is a very nice guitar but it did initially have the 3 way selector switch issue, however aside from that it is a superb instrument. I was hoping that there would have been a JTV-89 with Floyd Rose, but if that is a possibility or not I don't know. I am a fan of Ibanez RG guitars and the neck apart from the reverse headstock on the JTV-89 is very good and not a million miles from any of my three Ibanez RG models.

I got my 59 in mid June and then my JTV-89 at the beginning of August from D*ws*ns in Manchester a few days before the shop was trashed in the riots.

The JTV-89 in my view having been following the JTV series since the massive Future of Variax thread that was started by Rich Renken about three years ago, apart from being the cheapest JTV variant, seems to be the guitar that there have been very few problems with. I was a little bit put off the 89 at first because of the 'ridge' in the centre of the guitar because in photographs (to me), it seems to to be quite prominent and much more so in 2D than it does in real life.

It's marketed as a 'shred' guitar which undoubtedly is something it can be used for, but it doesn't have to be used for shredding if you don't want to. In fact I know someone who likes it for Jazz LOL

I'm just mentioning the JTV-89 as a viable option if you like a fast thin neck and maybe are not dead set on having a trem, but if (as I suspect you may be) you are also dealing with D*ws*ns they probably have an 89 in stock as well. It might be worth giving it a try. You may like it

I'm not trying to defend what plainly seems like a less than satisfactory batch of JTV-69 guitars as that's an issue that needs to be looked into, but just suggesting an alternative which could leave you £100 less out of pocket into the bargain.

Nick
