I would love to see a new Spider amp - although it would be hard to beat my Spider IV 150...it's a great sounding amp!

You can bet for sure if they do a new "V" model, it will include the HD modeled amps. First there was the POD and 2.0 modeling (included on Flex I and II, and original Spider amps).

Then they did the XT/X3 modeling, which is what the Flex III and Spider II, III, and IV are based on.

All that's left to do is a new Spider V or Flextone IV. I loved the look of the Flextone III (I owned 2 of them), but I found the amp a bit lack-lustre and lifeless. One play on the Spider IV, and I felt the difference right away.

I will miss having the XT/X3 modeling though...

That would be a neat trick!

I think most users would like the option of keeping the speaker(s) on when you use the headphones/DI output. There's been lots of talk about that since day 1, so I wouldn't be surprised to see it offered - also having the headphone/DI ouput on the front panel would be a blessing!

More than 16 banks of user presets would be welcomed by performers who could set a bank for each song in their nightly song list (assuming they need no more than 4 patches per song, of course).

I guess you have to ask yourself if any new features on a new model will be worth the extra money to you - its a fact that new models are never discounted as steeply as the old ones were. So where today you can get a Spider IV 75 for $299 (or better, if you're lucky) compared to the MSRP of $399, a Spider V 75 is most likley going to have a MSRP of $449 or even $499 and sell for $50 or $100 more than a IV.

I'm certainly glad I waited for the IV over the III.

So what new features does everyone want in a Spider V? I want to use the floorboard pedal as a Whammy.

I would think that, yes, it is a Spider V; but I hope it would be a Vetta III...

Maybe this is why Amazon is currently selling their Spider IV's so cheap (e.g., only $335.99 for the HD150). They want to get rid of their old stock before the Vs come out.

BTW, the first Spider was released in 1999, II came out in 2003, III came out in 2006, and the current IV came out in 2008. It's been a long time since the last refresh.

The reason I'm slightly concerned is because on the front page of the line 6 site it says "See. Change. 1.19.12" So I'm wondering if this means there's a possibility of an update? What do you think?

That's a question that won't get a definite answer - I think Line 6 would keep any new model release pretty tight in order to keep selling the exisitng model lineup.

How often does Line 6 update their Spider amps? I'm looking to get an IV 75 but want to see if there is a potential Spider V series coming out any time soon.
